If I could only have one gun, make it a Forty One ! It can be loaded down to about like a 38 spl , yet loaded up to about equal a 44 mag . The heaviest cast bullet I shoot is 240 gr swc . It is increditably accurate with a max charge IMR 4227 and a mag primer . My std is the 220 gr " Keith " , #258 H&G . I have also found great flavor with Veral Smiths 210 gr LFN design .
Am I the only one that has noticed that despite Alliants warning about not using Blue Dot powder in any 41 mag loads , In the latest Speer Manual #14 , they have a 41 mag load using Blue Dot powder . Funny thing since they are both owned by the same parent company . Guess one doesn't talk to the other .
It is the exact load I use on a regular basis . I worked up that load yrs ago , with my LFN cast bullet it shoots like a laser . I put Magna PC grips on my 58 .

Sell the Cokes? I am thankful I don't need to sell anything. I like to collect the guns and maybe trade but, it is fun to buy and speculate what they might be worth down the road. I don't ever pray for anything more than to wake up tomorrow with what I have today. The cokes add more wow factor and I am proud to own it.

There was nothing wrong with using Blue Dot in .41 Magnums... The problem was there were some published loads that were way too hot... Same with the 125 grain loads for the .357 Magnum.
A year ago I noticed some of the .41 information on LoadData.com had Blue Dot loads and asked them about it... They said this was all new data which was safe to use...

You know there is nothing wrong with good old Unique, 2400, & even Bullseye for light loads. These three will still get most six-gun jobs done & done quite well. My Cousin really likes 700X for medium loads & I suspect if someone worked with it Red Dot would work well for medium loads too.

I've debated selling this...for the right price...but better judgement always wins out.
And as far as on duty carry, I would love it if I had the option to swap out my M&P45 for my 58!

Wow nice. I hope better judgement always wins out. That is a fantastic six-gun & a great carry gun too. They are also classy off the chart!

The old man was right and you know you will regret selling that fine model 58 about 5 minutes after cashing the check !

The two times I went to Alaska I carried my M58 with a Ranch Dog TL411-255 RF which weighs 269 gr straight wheel weights. 19 grs of H110/W296 was my load gave over 1600 fps from my Marlin. Don't remember what they clocked out of the 4". For the black bears in NC I still carry that load in my Marlin but use a bit lighter load using Unique with the same bullet.

The Henry is a damned sweet shooter and functions with both the 41 SPL and 41 Mag
I bought a 100 Starline 41 Spl brass and tried it the both the Henry and and the Model 58.
I came back in the house after test a few and promptly ordered another 100 brass!!!
Hard hitting pleasant round - worth reloading- I think I am going to be going through a lot of these.

Bear defense load for the 58....most anything will do, especially the original 210 grain Remington Soft Point...that is one penetrating round.
For a little less kick and more control I've settled on a MeHic 220 grain Keith mold that puts out a 226 grain solid plus 214+- grain HPs and PentaPoints. Using Unique:
8.0: 950 fps
9.0: 1100 fps
10.0: 1180 fps from a 4" barrel.
The nose of the HP blows off instead of expanding and then the shank of the bullet keeps on going...

I liked it so much I had Accurate make a 250 grain version... Shot it at 100 yards just to see if it was stable and it was both accurate and cut nice round holes...
41-215V is pictured above and the one I had them make is the 41-250F...

I have looked at those Accurate molds they sure look good. What material did you have yours made of, I'd love one in say 240grs with a gas check for the .41.

You could say "I've got the fever and the only cure is..."

That I don't know, haven't received her yet found and bought via GB should be here by weeks end. How are his grips marked? I saw the posts on his grips on here and told myself I'd get a set of them when I found the right gun to put them on. Wasn't really looking for a nickel, but the price went lower than I had expected and reading every post about the 58's I had to have one. Love the fixed sight pre locks. Own a 4" model 13 and well carried 581. A blue 58 and then a 520 are next on the list...sn on the nickel is N15357X, if I'm reading the post on N frame serial numbers it was produced somewhere 73-74? I'll post more pics when I get it.

15 pounds of range scrap or wheel weights and two pounds of lineotype metal...have had no problem with leading. If you are asking about the mold, it is a four cavity aluminum...just a joy to cast with.
If you write I believe it's Tom and tell him you want the 41-250F cut back slightly to 240 grains and a gascheck base he can post the design in a day...

SuperMan Those molds look nice I'm playing with a couple of Lee molds my Wife got me now one is the 195gr SWC the other is the 210gr TL SWC. Too cold right now to get to the range much 18 below.

I would say that S&W did not do that porting. You can always spring for the letter from Roy Jinks if you want to know where and when it shipped, and the configuration.
I did notice a post from 2013 where a member posted he had looked at or purchased a ported nickel 58 sn N153xxx. Thougt that was interesting since it matches mine except for the last 3 digits. I sent him a message will be interesting to see how close they are. As for the letter we'll see maybe later down the road. Anyway if the porting is aftermarket or not I wasn't looking for museum piece, I like trailer park queens that shoot and am looking forward to it....
