The venerable M-65 field jacket.

You guys all just have been issued a different jacket than I got. Even with the liner, it didn't keep me warm. It wasn't until I got my Graf jacket (the issue rain jacket with a liner that was made from a poncho liner) that finally worked for me. That worked great until the Goretex jackets came out. That Goretex jacket and a wool sweater was my standard cold weather combo.

The funny thing was that the only time I ever wore my field jacket to the field was when I was stationed in Germany. We were issued a parka, field pants , wool shirts ,VB boots and over whites then we had turn it all in.

The one pictured in the OP was just a random pic off the internet. However, the one I got recently is from Army Surplus World. Here's a link to the jacket I got: Black M-65 Field Jacket

Black works better for me. I had my school logo added and I think it works great:

Thanks for the info, Rastoff. That black one is a fine looking coat. I like black as well, although I have no problem at all with the OD green. I'll check it out!

Loved my field jackets, but my favorite piece of issue gear was my woobie

Wore M-65 jackets in green and in black regularly for years. I used to button in two liners in winter time, otherwise they just weren't warm enough for me.
