The Walking Dead premieres Sunday on AMC

Well, what do you guys think? I enjoyed it and will continue to watch.

Wow! I didn't know if they could do a zombie show in a serious vein without making it look rediculous.

Good story, good acting and well paced. And it teaches you what happens when you fire a .357 magnum from inside a tank.

Yep, I'll continue to watch.

I liked it. But I hope it doesn't turn into a soap opera with the main character's wife and kid being hooked up with his partner. Stick to killin' zombies.

I loved it. AMC didn't have to tone down the gore, and other than the hero telling the deputy to make sure the safety was off on his Glock, no real goofs. Good to see a revolver in use, too.

My kid has the graphic novel collection and says the series is following along pretty closely.

Can't wait for next week.

Coma guy ought have died of dehydration. The hospital looked to have been abandoned for a while, and to have had damage from explosions (grenades?). It'd be doubtful that his IV would have kept being topped off. I can't imagine coma cases would have taken priority as things went down hill, supplies ran out, and staff ran out either. Hospitals only have two or three days, at most, of supplies without resupply. Emergency power was still on in a limited capacity, but the rotting bodies and general disrepair suggested that the place had been abandoned for a long while.

Water taps running... questionable. If the town had a gravity feed system from a reservoir, perhaps. But no power means no pump stations and no purification.

I wouldn't have expected any guns or ammunition left at the police station either.

Yeah I know... but if one thing is going to be extraordinary, everything else ought be by the numbers and as close to realistic as possible.

That the one father had no qualms about teaching his son to shoot was a nice touch. It was just accepted.

The tactics during the shootout at the start...the main character failing to use cover...simply walks out in the open towards the car...THAT was stupid.
The main character using a 6" REVOLVER?
The Deputy carrying a Glock that has a SAFETY??
Why don't they get an Ex Cop or grab a local Firearms Instructor...and get some TECHNICAL advice??

Then the Deputy carrying the SHOTGUNS...after seeing...all one needs to do is pop them in the head. I'd be looking for an AR.
I'd also ditch that revolver and snag a hi-cap 9mm from the SO' s Arms locker, one of the other Deputies Lockers, or a dead Military Guy???

Anyone else notice the Browning .50 with the linked ammo on the tank?? For a few seconds I thought..."Oh boy some fifty time"!!

Overall I liked it...some dumb weapons/tactics mistakes...but thats Hollywood.

Surely quite a few haunting images! They did good on that end of it.

I enjoyed the first installment and held my interests. I was glad to see the deputy using the .357 revolver. It is still a great man stopper and impressive. Also, when I saw the .50 cal on top of the tank, I expressed joy and envisioned great fire power. Looking forward to the next episode.

I think we will certainly see that .50 cal. come into play in next weeks episode. I mean, he is going to have to get rescued or fight his way out of that tank right?

I also noticed a plethora of gun related inaccuracies, but I think that makes it interesting as gun owners. I like looking for and uncovering that stuff!

+1 with the "wouldn't have survived in the hospital" thing, but what the heck. If he didn't survive that there would be no series. :)

I will definately be watching next week. I also hope that it doesn't get too soap opera-ish with the main guys partner and his wife.

You'd think that some of that stuff is intentional. When the deputy reached to snap off the safety on the Glock wouldn't he have pointed out to the director that it didn't have one?

Anyone watch the series premiere of "The walking dead" last night?

Wow, I loved the graphic novel this series was taken or "inspired" from, and the new tv show by AMC did it justice. If you guys havent seen or heard of this check this link out. It has some GREAT makeup and effects. Lets hope this series runs for a long time. Since it involves the "zombie apocalypse," I figured It would be ok to post it here in a rifle forum. If not, and it breaks this sites rules...then Mods' Im sorry and please delete this thread. As I meant no harm, or disrespect to this forum. Lastly I forgot to mention that it comes on each Sunday night at 10Pm Eastern time. With a repeat this Thursday at 10Pm eastern as well. Obviously on AMC, lol.

I saw and enjoyed it...what kind of revolver was the main character using? I couldn't tell from the small TV I was watching it on. The f-ball and b-ball games were on at the same time.

Not fully sure, but here is a good picture of it in this link from the show's photo section. This is a GOOD show, cant wait to buy the first season on Bluray. Hopefully it will last at least 3 or so seasons, as AMC has already said they are "dedicated" to the continuation of this show for the long term. What ever that means, in reality may differ lol. Lets hope it gets constant high viewer ratings.

Zombie series.....hmmmm. Happened to DVR this and I was impressed (I love horror genre, but not obsessed with it). Great ending to a first episode, if I may say so. Hope it doesn't fizzle out.

Havnt seen it, didnt hear of it, so thanks for the headsup, gonna watch it soon :)

I love zombies, just started the book "The Zombie Survival Guide", I'm sure the 15-22 comes in handy ;)
