The “WOW” gun of your collection?

No work of art but a special for me due to the romance and significance.
Who knows where this revolver has been and what it has seen over the years! I have several cosmetic jewels in my collection but I still am attracted to a revolver like this one. And yes I have a factory letter from Colt indicating it was shipped to this company.

The only wow I hear about any of my old worn out guns is "WOW, you mean that old thing still shoots"?

LOL, I can understand.

For me, it's more like "WOW, you paid how much?!?!?!".
(In response to the current Colt prices that aren't quite logical except to the small group buying them.)

The wow factor just isn't a part of my buying. Mainly because I'm an enthusiast, not a collector or even accumulator. I buy for duty use and if I don't have a use or need, I don't buy. Swear I'm the only guy on these forums like that.

So if I had to pick a WOW gun, I would probably just reach to my right hip and draw the gun below. No need to "bring it out" because it's never stored. My everyday carry is my wow gun.

There are some great guns shown here though, and they all deserve the WOW factor in their own way. What might be an old worn out gun to one person, could be the crown jewel of another's possessions. Not many people have the luxury of owning a "WOW" gun, let alone dozens.

I don't get too many people over to look at my collection and a lot of folks I know "don't appreciate my level of gun ownership" either. However, that said, I have one or two that have gotten positive reactions. :)

Arguably, one of my EDCs is a wow gun due to the customization.

Some others get "wows" if I show them:

Funny thing is, for average folks, this is the gun that has the most wow effect, and I know why - leftists! Anti-gunners and the media! So when non-gun folks see this it's "OMG!!" :D

It is cool but it's just another rifle...........

Even though revolvers are my personal favorite, I'd say the "wow" factor for me is with guns that others can't identify.

For that list I'd have .....

XP100 (very futuristic look)
Ruger Hawkeye (not really a revolver!)
Remington Nylon 11 with 24" barrel

Wow gun

Well, not as hard to pick one as I thought. I've had a lot of interest in so many over the years, but this one always gets folks attention, a 1969 QSPR Tunnel Gun. Next to my 1956 pre-29 birthday gun shipped on my 6th birthday in 1956, to a home state of Texas gun dealer, the QSPR is my favorite.

My bar for "wow" is set a bit lower than some of you gents. Holy cow there's been some beauties posted!

But for me, my "wows" are probably my 4" 29-2, 460v, and Winchester 70 Super Grade 338WM.

Beg pardon for my crappy pics

No real WOW in my safe - just a bunch of shooters.
About the best I can offer is a 13-1 that is unusual because it is an early example built on an over-stamped 10-6 frame
An Inox (stainless) Jovino Terminator
And 29-3 Classic Hunter...

My "wow guns" vary based on day of the week and tenor of the person I'm showing them to. If you asked me this last week, it would be this set that I posted here: Craftsmanship At Its Finest - The Perfect Fusion of KB Wood and Quigley Steel I keep pulling them out of my safe and looking at them over and over again with my mouth forming a "W O W" every time I look at them.

But... since we are in the 1961-1980 thread, these two might be ones that I would pull out and show...

Can we get a close up of the grip screw on the 19? The screw and the bushing make up a rather detailed and impressive escutcheon.

Nothing to be bashful about with a 13.....they comport themselves quite well on their own merits. 13-3 3 inch in blue and nickel.

Dang that "Like" button is smokin"!

The random dude/Uncle Larry aspect is a big deal. What might make a collector actually drool would probably get a shrug or even a sneer from Joe Average, and vice versa.

Case in point:

Vega_prt.jpg

I tell casuals that I bought this when the store didn't have any phased plasma rifles in the 40 watt range. Lots of excited expressions. Serious gun guys see a crappy knock-off made from AMT rejected parts, and the most obsolete RDS on the planet. It does serve as a good example to youngsters of why forward serrations on slides became popular.

This usually gets a "Wow, is that legal?" from non-gun folk, and a polite "That's interesting" from serious shooters.

Since the move I've changed to a regular pistol grip, and made room for a mag in the well, since transporting like that is legal here in the Battle Born state. 120 rounds on board. Everything else was left like when it was CA legal.

If it's shear firepower, then it's this one...
IMG_1722_zpsicfoalz3.jpg

I had one buddy, whose body was composed ~98% smarta**, who was a 60 gunner. When we'd be rehearsing and "simulating fire" he'd go:

"Bang!"
*racks action, opens cover, racks action, closes cover*
"Bang!"
*racks action, opens cover, racks action, closes cover*

and that's when the LT would start yelling.
