Even if half your thumb didn't?Only because the OP brought the whole issue up I can finally admit this is exactly how I lost most of my right thumb in 1976...
I feel this is the place to finally come out...
The dog had no choice but to release as it had to turn around to see who was saying "hello"'in such a demanding way.
So is this manouver a righty-tightie, or lefty-loosey situation?
Anyone think this might work for a cat fight ?
I would recommend a pinky finger rather than a thumb.
We had a good discussion with the K9 guys about why the thumb is the correct digit for this procedure. If the dog is not secured by a lead to a choke collar, one must be ready to swirl the dog around violently and into something hard. And that must be done right now and correctly or you're going to get bit. By grabbing the leg with the off hand and the hip with the fingers of the strong hand with the thumb up the arse, most men can handle a 50 to 60 lb. dog. If you stick the pinky or any other finger up that arse you won't be able to grab enough dog to use your muscles and perform the swing and bang maneuver and you are sure to be bit.
I was prepared to swing, but in this case that didn't prove to be necessary. The white Pit Bull doing the biting was only interested in getting back to his female Pit Bull to check on her.
So..........do you think my sticking a thumb up the arse of a Pit Bull qualifies me for a position on the staff of the Starship USS Enterprise? Beam me up Scotty, I'm ready.........![]()
I believe the dog's extractor is left-hand threaded......So is this manouver a righty-tightie, or lefty-loosey situation?
You are one crazy.................................................
At least you didn't have to sniff his butt first!!!
Now we know what they mean by "rule of thumb."
