These are strange times indeed

So you pretty much paid around $150 tops for the 27 if you bought your ammo more than a couple of months ago. Great score.

Man if I could get a quality .357/.41/.44 N frame for one of my 420 count cans of M855 I would do it in a heartbeat.

It is ridiculous that this is possible, or that a guy with a crappy part-built AR can trade it plus get cash for a 627 PC or pre model number N frame.

Great Score !!
This recent panic never ceases to amaze me. But 525 rd. boxes
of Federal .22Lr is going for over 50 bucks now here. And .223/5.56
is bringing dollar a round. I might have to break out some of my
.223 to sell if i can find a N-frame like that one.

Chuck

That looks to have been a great deal.
I had I guy try to trade 900 rds of 223 ammo for a 95 win I wanted $600 for at the last lgs.
Starting to think I should have done it.
I know I would have traded it for your 4" N frame.

I see guys here paying $2700 for an AR-15 with 600 rounds of ammo so 400 rounds for a 27-2 3.5 inch is a steal of a deal on your end of the deal.

That's a great deal you walked into. I hope the panic subsides soon or prices are going to be out of reach for most folks and the anti's will get the same results without passing any legislation. Glad I have everything I need.

A buck a round? Hard to believe that kind of price for 223/5.56 ammo. Is that for military ball? I remember buying UMC ball in the yellow box for like 2.99/20, back when I had a 223 model 70 about 25 years ago, That was one of the attractions of a 223 vs a 22-250 or something like that-- cheap surplus ammo. How times have changed.

Congratulations. That was a heads up move on your part. I guess one has to be in the right place at the right time and know it.

I don't think it is just guns and ammo. I had some pistols and revolvers laying around doing nothing so decided to collect everything I needed to reload for those. I started last year and I'm glad I did. There are plenty of shortages for powder, primers and some reloading gear. Lots of people now want to learn to roll their own because of ammo shortages. I'm just glad I started when I did or I would be SOL trying to put it all together now. I'm pretty much set, all I need now is one more 44 spl. ;)

Did ya kiss him first or buy him dinner after? :D
Did you have to run out of the store? ;)
It's always good to hear about the buyer getting the better end of a deal.
Maybe I need to load up a bunch more .223 ammo and see what I can trade it for.
You made out like a bandit.

This panic buying is ridiculous. Congratulations on your deal. That's amazing. But my god the panic buying has taken on a life of it's own. Right now there is a good chance that even a 10 round mag limitation isn't going to fly. The whole gungrabbing frenzy has died down and while it can start up again this situation is not in touch with reality. I expect it will collapse in the future, but until then ......... it's just stupid. Wish I could be more eloquent, but I can't.

Just glad that I've been stocking up for the past few years and I'm not part of this silliness.
