About 13 years ago a fellow forum member sent me a PM telling me about this 5" 27-2 in a pawn shop. He knew I favored 27s. I called the shop and spoke with the owner. Asking price was $375 and he seemed surprised when I bought it over the phone without having seen it. It didn't disappoint. Best guess is a 1968 shipping date. I just realized a few minutes ago this has quietly became C&R qualified. Not that I plan to sell it.

That's right at the transition point between diamond magnas and non. Do the stocks number to the gun? With 1968 being the generally recognized cutoff for diamond stocks, any gun with matching number diamond stocks is now C&R.

Those are the original Magnas with serial stamped on right side. A forum member once posted a photo of his 27-2 with a serial about 50 earlier than mine and it shipped with diamond Magnas. This revolver was made right at the transition. Who knows? Maybe it's the first one with W/O the diamonds.
