Thieves at UPS!

My FFL uses USPS and I don’t think he has had any problems with loss but a couple of damage claims. I think he has had loss problems with other shippers.

This problem should fall at the feet of the driver (and FFL). He did not scan it into system. This is part of the tracking info u can access to see where your package is. I’m guessing he was just taking shortcuts and not trying to steal something. But the results are the same. Overworked people take shortcuts. It’s not a problem until it’s a problem

I had a frame shipped USPS FFL to FFL. Tracking showed they delivered it. Not at the FFL. Dealer checked with USPS, nothing in the system. Suggested he contact BATFE. One phone call from them-even though they didn't have to do it-motivated a USPS supervisor to check the mail truck. There it was! Delivered within 30 minutes of "discovery".

Yup, I just lost one to FedEx ground. Driver filed a false report of delivery and signed the business name. Thing is, the receiving FFL has full camera coverage of the front of his property, and NO FedEx came that day. Because I am "not a licensee", I will have to eat the gun. CLaim denied.

Nothing new... I worked for UPS back in the 1970s while going to college and the thefts going on back then were "criminal".

The dealer I use no longer uses FedEx or UPS and ships everything USPS Priority Mail... ZERO problems compared to the other two..

Rifles and shotguns were getting broken all the time and even though the "declared value" was "X" try getting your money out of them... With USPS you pay for insurance, the gun gets damaged and they pay up...

The reason that UPS and FedEx went to, now demand, OVERNIGHT or TWO-DAY shipping for handguns at very high rates is because of the theft problem...apparently it hasn't gotten any better...

I sent a long gun just this Wednesday to LA. Tracking shows that, at least the box :p, is arriving today. Not too bad…so far.

Aren’t FedEx Ground separate from FedEx? More like a “route franchise”, that can be purchased and operated independently? If that is still the case, look into having that driver arrested for the firearm theft. He/she can’t work if they are locked up.

Maybe possible that "Not Scanning" contributed to the package getting kicked to the side until someone in distribution site does scan it and gets it back in the loop.
Scan device not working that day ?
I recall certain packaging issues such as reflective tape over labels etc.. can delay info input into system until read by a human..

Hopefully your package surfaces and all work out.

Some of you may have read my thread late last year on chasing a "lost - never delivered" case of 9mm from SGAmmo. I finally recieved it after it mysteriously turned up at the main hub, returned to Oklahoma, then shipped to my home instead of the UPS store. Turns out the manager was not scanning in anything with a white hazmat sticker - he's just refuse it and send it back. Driver who delivered to my home said company policy is all packages are scanned in at the sender, and scanned delivered when the driver hands it off to the recipient. Yeah, right.
