Think I ordered the wrong AFG

I ordered the AFG not the AFG2,
1st I got a PTS version is there a regular version? I tried finding it on magpul site but it doesn't list seperate versions. Is there a different version of this piece and if so what's the difference?

I'm interested in using rail covers will the AFG allow me to do so?

Two separate issues going on here.

First, PTS is the airsoft version. PTS parts and cheaper and lower quality.

Second, the different between the AFG and AFG2 is size. The AFG2 is a little shorter and doesn't have the "wings" that curve up between the side and lower rails. Either will work on your 15-22.
 
Are you sure you got even an authentic PTS version of the AFG? There's a lot of fakes of those floating around. The PTS variants use a lesser quality polymer (usually simply ABS) and crappier fastening hardware.

As for AFG vs AFG2, the biggest difference is that the 2 is slightly narrower in terms of grip as it gets rid of the winglets of the flat portion on the grip. As a medium hand shooter I far prefer the AFG2 over the original.
 
I can't even find the AFG on the Magpul PTS site. Guess I'll call them in the morning and see if the abs or polymer is different.
 
Gonna send it back and get another one. Any suggestion whom to order from? Aimsurplus?
 
Amazon.com gets it straight from Magpul
Brownells has them also.
