The 3 dot sights are just better than the standard sights especially for a carry gun. I'm befuddled on how they are a liability?
I pretty much exclusively practice threat-focused shooting, especially so with a snub, so any "upgraded" sights don't really offer me many advantages. I used to have a 340 M&P with a big dot front night sight. I often carried it in a jacket without a holster and actually had it snag one time on the pocket material, enough so that it could have fumbled a real draw.
Another night there was a loud crash in a downstairs bathroom. I was in my office right down the hall with the 340 in my pocket with my family upstairs. I immediately killed the lights and quickly moved toward the noise. I had the gun up in a firing position pointed toward the door when I hits the lights. When I was moving through the dark(it was pitch black) as well as when I brought the gun up, I found the night sights extremely distracting as I was trying to see any movement in the darkness. YMMV.
