Check out the the "Long gun" section of the forum, I think it will give you good info on them. I bought my first just over a week ago, the second is in the mail. Many mechanical things have their teething issues. But as it has been said, the bad apples.....
S&W has made a great many of these rifles, and it looks like a small percentage has had issues. I hope you consider this rifle. I didn't even get a chance to fire the first one when I bought the second.

I have one that has performed flawlessly with whatever ammo I feed it. So far it has eaten Remington Thunderbolt, Federal bulk, Winchester White Box, and CCI Mini Mags. As to the problems, I saw one that was sold at the same shop where i bought mine. It supposedly has failed three times. Based on what I heard from the shop owner, there were several slam fires that ultimately damaged the extractor. All of the problems occurred with Winchester 333 ammo. After the last episode the rifle was returned to S&W and it was repaired and no additional issues have been reported.

That said, I am very satisfied with mine and would recommend it highly.

I'll make it really, really, really easy....

That should do it! :)

Bro just make sure your getting a good deal and go for it. I absolutely love my gun. Had it for two weeks and already put 600+ rounds though it, so glad I didn't get an ar, it paid for itself after the first brick of ammo.

Does your rifle start with S/N DTX? Did you have any issues with it?
Just curious, that's what mine is,(DTX) and I have not shot it yet. I have just been reading about some FTE and FTF problems. I am told that the DTX S/N are the latest ones out so I am not sure if they have already fixed the problem at S&W.

Mine starts with DTM absolutely no issues whats so ever, two jams so far but they were both duds. Absolutely love this gun, cheap, ultra reliable and very accurate. Street price is around $400, just make sure you don;t pay too much more than that and you'll be fine.

Check out http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/130442-m-p15-22-365-a.html for a good deal

$365 only if you are LE and prices will vary by location and time of season. I've seen guys (non LE) say they have gotten them for as little as $380 and I've seen as high as $500.

I agree it is a sweet rifle and I'd get one.. If you want an AR this is an AR in 22 caliber. Great training rifle, great rifle in general and very fun to shoot!

I got mine for $399 in California. Non-LEO. Just a good discount at the local sporting goods chain. It was $499, but they had a 20% off coupon, so I had to get it.

thanks again guys, found out that the one i bought is a second gen, and the store has had no problems with the five or six they have already sold.....picking it up monday!!!!!!
