Hi Y'all. The title pretty much says it all. I've heard that LAPD is having problems with some of theirs. Don't have any details. Your thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Mine just went past 2000 rounds.

No problems of any kind. Zip, Zero, Nada.

I don't own one but my range does and I've fired it. I can't imagine how many thousands of rounds it has through it and it's chugging along, just fine.

Great Gun

I have put about 1550 rounds through mine and not one problem.

Since mere civilians cant buy the M&P pro 9mm in Kommiefornia, I would gladly take one of the LAPD's problem guns off their hands... I have heard good things about them, but have no first hand experience.

Good gun

I dunno why folks love Glocks when the M&P is sooooooomuch better. :D

Cause they like fireworks while they are at the range....

One guy in our local club has one that has passed 10k mark and another guy has passed 5k mark. Both pistols run great without any problems. I have two in 9mm right now but both are under 500 mark so not much to report.

The biggest problem is that they are addicting....one almost always leads to another and another! I have a 40 Full Size with over 12000 rounds downrange and a 45 FS that has about 2000 rounds and neither of them has EVER had a malfunction of ANY kind. Now I need a 9mm FS and I will have the trifecta.......

I have three MPs, a 9c, a F.S. 40 caliber, and the MP 9 Pro. I love all my MP's but especially the Pro which has quickly become my favorite range pistol. I have about 1500, or so, rounds through it with not a single failure of any kind.
Very accurate, great ergonomics, very dependable and all that with a great life time, no B.S., warranty. What's not to like?

Flawed m&p & glocks

If you check into the allegations made about the M&P and Glocks blowing up or Failure to eject or feed or what ever the fault was, it comes down to a VERY small number of a run of pistols or a department purchase.

Cast that against a national sales effort and the percentage falls way down. So what does that mean to you?

If it is YOUR weapon it is 100%. Especially if it is in a time of need ( read this, you REALLY needed a shooting pistol ).

If you shoot your M&P and have developed confidence in your weapon and load combo, that is the proof you need.

HOLY COW Wildcard! What happened to that GLOCK?

I have only heard of the KABOOM stories but never seen one up close.

Perhaps there is an M&P out there which did the same but I've never even heard of such a thing.

Theres a site out there that has quite an extensive collection of Glock, USP and other pistol KB!'s. I forget the name of it. i found this pic via google image search, but i'm sure i saw it on that site with the details behind the whole thing.

newbie w/ big hands wants an M&P 9 Pro

Total newbie here guys... but I want to purchase my first handgun and I've narrowed it down all the way to a W&S M&P 9 Pro for several reasons. 1) I have BIG hands and really I tried holding lots of other handguns and nothing fit so nicely as M&P 9 Pro... 2) I really like some of the accessories that are out for this gun and I want to pimp mine one day! 3) I don't like Glocks! And finally 4) I am left-handed and the ambi slide release was an attractive feature at first... I have only held a brand new M&P Pro and the slide release button was a b*** to push/pull down... I mean I went at it with both thumbs and still no luck w/o the magazine... I put the magazine in and it got just a tad better. Problem is that I am in a wheelchair so if I want to use it in a quick manner (i.e., self-defense, etc.), I may not have time (or an extra hand for that matter) to wrestle with it with both hands.

So here are my questions for you experts: After the last shot when the slide stays back, and after I load a new magazine, if I pull the slide back, would that release it or pulling the release button is the only way to do this? Do you know if there's a way I can replace the release button with a lever-type release (like in some other models of S&W)? Any and all help will be highly appreciated... I have been eying an M&P 9 Pro for a while and I don't want it to escape me, but this release button has got me thinking big time... it's a big investment and since I use my hands a lot, I don't want to end up with damaged thumbs after sending a couple of hundreds of rounds through this bad boy.

I am sorry if I should've started a new thread; I thought my question may be better suited for this ongoing discussion instead of starting a new thread. Thanks in advance!

M&P 40 900 rounds and 0 problems. It has become an extention of my arm.

In answer to the BigGuy, after you load in a new magazine, you can release the slide by pulling it back.

I have shot the Glock 17 in competirion and now shoot the S&W M&P9Pro. I prefer the ergonomics and trigger of the M&P. I beat a friend who shoots a Glock 34 at a local USPSA seven stage match.
