Do any of you forum members have any experience with that 22. I am interested because it is threaded. And I like bolt action 22s.Reports on accuracy and reliability will be appreciated .

Look at the savage FV-SR too . Heavy 16" barrel , great trigger and typical savage accurate .

Many of use have add a boyds laminate stock but not needed .

I like a savage . Our fv-sr will shoot sub 1/2" and my BV will trim that to .333 with mid upper match ammo . Both trigger can be tuned down to under 1lb also and reliability has never been a concern but I don't shoot some brands or levels of ammo . Loose bulk boxs are not in my to buy list .

Bought my R/A in 22 magnum last year. It is the compact version and is very accurate with the CCI 40 grain ammo. Only 5 3/8 lbs. and love the 18 inch tube for woods hunting. Great satin bluing and the synthetic stock does not feel chinzy. Reviews I read were for the most part very positive. Only gripe I had was that the magazine was sticky feeding the last round at first but a call to Ruger solved the problem as they sent me a new mag. for free. I paid about $275 with tax for mine. Seems decent quality for the money.

Excellent Rifle, scope 4x12, drives nails at 100 yds, use 40grain, I can not say enough about this rifle. I also shot CZ's and for the money Ruger is equal to them in accuracy but not smoothness in working action. You might have completely different results in the one you purchase. I highly recommend it. Would be a nice Christmas gift.

Mine shoots anything I feed it. I picked up 40k rounds of subsonic .22 for cheap a couple of years ago that is my primary ammo in this rifle. i typically shoot between 50 - 100yds with this rifle/ammo combo using the stock iron sights. Pretty darn accurate. I've never felt the need to add optics.

I have a 77/22 that I got when they first came out. The blue and
walnut model no sights. It has a Redfield 4x scope. The outfit is
a tac driver. Anyway my son in law got R/A, we put a Weaver
K4x on it. To my surprise it will shoot with the 77/22. I had used
Win Hps in my 77/22, after trying several brands. So we sighted
in R/A with them, excellent results. 40yds it will do a dime off
bags. No feed, ejection, or extraction issues Going to look at
trigger, it could use a little tune. only negative, as far as me.
Kinda Ugly. But a accurate, reliable rig, can't beat it for the buck.

Thank you all for the answers.I also like the savage mentioned. But I like iron sights on my rifles not just a optic. In answer to question I have not pulled the trigger on it yet.Probaly after Christmas.I am currently bidding on a 3 in j frame online.Depending on auction maybe sooner but grandchildren need Christmas first.

I got the carbine version earlier this year and it is a tack driver with everything I have shot in it. I wanted the shorter barrel/stock to carry behind the truck seat. put an older redfield 2 3/4 X scope on it. all the power I need in the woods. you won't be sorry. lee
