I have a Model 27 four screw no dash blue steel with a 6.5 inch barrel that is wearing "Coke" grips. The gun, per Roy Jinks, was shipped in December of 1959. It is in extremely good condition for its age but I have the gun only, no box or tools.

Serial number S 1885XX.

I am thinking about letting this one go to someone who will enjoy it more than me. I have never fired it and will never fire it. I'm sure it has been fired as it has some cylinder turn lines.

I have no idea what to ask for the gun as there are very few comparables available.

Edited to add:

There are some "handling marks" (light scratches)on the frame and cylinder (which is to be expected from a gun that is eligible for Social Security) and a few light scratches on the coke grips. The grips have not chipped as most of the Cokes I've seen.

There is a small place under the right grip on the frame (right below the flat screw) that has bluing loss. It is completely covered by the grip and not visible unless the grips are removed. It is near the "flat" screw and would be covered completely by Magna Grips.

It is a 6 1/2 inch barrel (which I believe is the scarcest barrel length) While I can't be sure, I believe the Coke grips are original to the gun as there is no indication that Magna grips have been fitted to the gun.

I have never fired the gun, but I expect that it has been fired at some point.

I would appreciate a potential value and any help in what to look for to help with a more comprehensive description.

Thanks in advance for your help

Bill

I'll let the photos complete the description.

I bought this one a year ago for $1280 at a gun show. Looks a lot like yours except this one has the red ramp front sight; don't know that that makes any difference to the price. I thought $1280 was a great price and frankly would have been willing to pay more. Rarely see the no dash 27s where I shop and wouldn't be surprised to find one like this, or yours, tagged for $2k or so. Good luck.

Nice gun!....I would say between 2-3k, the Cokes are going for around $800.00 today. Are they original to the gun?...................................M*

The Cokes were on the gun when I got it. I have not lettered it, but I know they were an option on the early 27's.

As one member already pointed out, the Cokes could bring 800 alone, these days. So 2,000.00? 1959? Please. I'll take it. And Pay shipping. And your transfer fee. And for an Uber to take you to the gunstore. And take you out to a steak dinner and a movie if we live close by.

Clean that up well to get the finish rid of any oil or contaminants and "dirt", then get a coat of Rex Wax on it, and that should show true condition much better then. Im not great at pics myself, but some good pics will serve it very well.

If someone can even find that same gun at any price, please post the one you find. When you can't even find comps on a gun, that should tell you a little about value.

I do know that I've gotten 2000 for lesser guns manufactured in the 70's. A 6 inch 27 run of the mill 1650 GB.

Personally, I would not spend the money to letter that. But that is a personal thing. Some Historical foundation docs might be nice to see though- if there is an original invoice.

I'm sure in ten years that gun will be worth much less!
