I have a Model 27 four screw no dash blue steel with a 6.5 inch barrel that is wearing "Coke" grips. The gun, per Roy Jinks, was shipped in December of 1959. It is in extremely good condition for its age but I have the gun only, no box or tools.
Serial number S 1885XX.
I am thinking about letting this one go to someone who will enjoy it more than me. I have never fired it and will never fire it. I'm sure it has been fired as it has some cylinder turn lines.
I have no idea what to ask for the gun as there are very few comparables available.
Edited to add:
There are some "handling marks" (light scratches)on the frame and cylinder (which is to be expected from a gun that is eligible for Social Security) and a few light scratches on the coke grips. The grips have not chipped as most of the Cokes I've seen.
There is a small place under the right grip on the frame (right below the flat screw) that has bluing loss. It is completely covered by the grip and not visible unless the grips are removed. It is near the "flat" screw and would be covered completely by Magna Grips.
It is a 6 1/2 inch barrel (which I believe is the scarcest barrel length) While I can't be sure, I believe the Coke grips are original to the gun as there is no indication that Magna grips have been fitted to the gun.
I have never fired the gun, but I expect that it has been fired at some point.
I would appreciate a potential value and any help in what to look for to help with a more comprehensive description.
Thanks in advance for your help
Bill
I'll let the photos complete the description.
