years ago i reloaded for over a dozen calibers,, now only 3 but i have done a lot of playing with recipes,,,,
these are practice/target/plinking loads
9mm 125 gr rn hardcast
3.2 grains titegroup
45acp 200 gr rnfp
4.0 grains of titegroup
223 bolt ONLY 4.0 grains titegroup
any full loads i load 1/2 grain over max with jacketed bullets

they cycle just fine in the 9mm and 45,,the cases only get spit maybe 2 feet but they are accurate,,, last time i shot 50 rds through a hole size of a golfball at 7 yards,,,, i shoot 99.9% hardcast which i buy from my supplier,,, cheaper to buy from him then cast my own,,
the 223 is a tad dirty but its only taching about 1100 and it makes for a great practice load,,,, i shoot my 130 yd steel targets but there is a 4 inch drop,,,, its like shooting a 22 bolt action,,,,yes its just something different to shoot,,
i am NOT sure if its ok to put my suppliers for the 223 and hardcast so i wont put it in this post,,, if its ok i will put links on a reply along with the price,,,,, he is WAY cheaper on the hardcast then anyone and i have shot 1000s of them with 0 issues,,,,,

If you don't mind sharing your hard cast supplier, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

You braver man than me. I wouldn't even think of using TG in 223. I just gotta ask - why 1/2 a grain over max ? In my experience TG cycled all my semi-s even with starting load.

no not 1/2 grain over max with titegroup,,,,LOL,,,,,,, 1/2 grain over with full loads of cfepistol,,,cfe223 and 335,,,guess i should have worded it better
hodgon lists 3.1 grains for 223 as a subsonic load but i had a couple of bullets not make it out so i bumped it up to 4 grains,,, i got up to 6 grains and it was just starting to show over pressure so dropped it back to 4,,,,

Even with those powders, 1/2gr over is quite a bit. Pressures are NOT linear with many powders. So 1/2gr over could be well beyond safe pressure limits. Just not wise.

absolutely no pressure signs,,,,, with those loads at max with those powders the recoil is some what less of a good factory load,,,,, with 25 years reloading experience i sure know what to look for in pressure signs,,, and there is 0 pressure signs,,, i even tried couple of the loads 1 grain over with 0 high pressure signs and recoil was very similar to a good factory load,,, i know that for a fact because i shot both loads at the same time,,, reloaded rd 1st then the factory load,,,, according to my chrony the max load is below a good factory load,,,,
so yes 25 years of experience i do know what i am doing and what to look for

now if i was 1 grain over max with titegroup that would be stupid,,, i dont even like getting 1/2 way to max with it,,,,, way to fast of a burn rate

The "pressure signs" show up often too late, besides extra hot loads will beat a gun to he**. When I first started reloading 44 Magnum, I had a full blown case of "Magnumitis". I loads many, many rounds right up to max. with several powders and heavy bullets. Soon I noticed I had to keep adjusting my rear sight on my 629. One time while cleaning the gun I noticed the front sight was leaning a bit, mebbe 3 degrees to the left. I sent it to the factory for repair and got it back with a note from the repair tech.; "Are you shooting a lot of extra heavy loads?". Yep, I beat the heck outta my gun and the barrel twisted in the frame from to heavy loads...

Every gun is diff but your recommendation & statement of feel & zero pressure signs, sorry but not buying your exp level. You own a chrono? You can plot vel on a curve & extrapolate pressures, but they still are not linear. A blanket statement of 1/2gr over & now 1gr over, zero pressure signs, sorry not buying it. Waaaay too many variables to make such a statement. Lighter for caliber bullet are more forgiving than heavy for caliber. Few powders on the fast to medium burn range have linear pressure curves. Better lucky than good my friend.
