I traded into this Ruger Vaquero a while back. It left the factory as a short barreled .45 Colt, stainless steel. Along the way it acquired a .45 ACP cylinder, got a matte finish, and the factory grips were thinned down and refinished. I did none of this.

I like the chunky all-business look of it - kind of reminds me of a short barreled Model 27. With ACPs it is a pussycat to shoot, and if I ever need to shoot dinosaurs the other cylinder will handle the stoutest .45 Colt rounds around.

I haven't even tried it with the .45 Colt cylinder. I have a good stash of ACPs - as an added bonus that short ejector rod knocks the stubby cases right out.

sigp220.45, a way cool walkin' around gun . I carry one like it as a walkin' around gun with shot loads when I prairie dog shoot. Needless to say ,it's the perfect companion when I hear a "buzz" at my feet.

I have picked up a couple Ruger SA's recently, the first one is this Single Six Colorado Centennial edition:

And then I decided I wanted a gun in .327 Magnum and couldn't find a 16-4 reasonably priced to convert. I came across this Blackhawk in .327and have had fun with that round. When the madness is over I am going to find an 8 3/8 16-4 to convert to .327 to be its companion:

With that short ejection rod, in 45 Colt, removal of empties needs a little technique to be quick. Keep the chambers clean and oil free, aim the muzzle upward, and use the rod with authority and the brass will fly right out and if you're at a table/bench you can lean it into your hand and catch the empties. SASS requires all guns be carried hammer down on an empty chamber, but in the field 5 lead 255's and a shot shell will do you a lot of good service. Ivan

Very nice. I could see that one riding on my hip in some nice leather
while walking the river or woods. Love the short tube.
