My Model 69 is the best shooting 44 I own or have ever owned. Easy to carry also. Love it.
It handles recoil surprisingly well, supposedly because of the lower bore axis, & is very accurate too.
At 34oz. it's not too heavy & not too light. You can add some cushier grips for range day use, if you like.
I enjoy the heck out of shooting mine.

I like mine a lot. I've had no problems. Like any new revolver these days, the double action pull needs a little work to make it lighter, but this is accomplished through a couple of Wolff springs and a little easy stone polishing.
I also really like my 69. Haven't heard anything bad about them.

I put a set of Hogue X frame grips and a Patridge front sight on my 4-1/4" 69, as well as a reduced weight rebound slide spring. Single action pull weight is now about 34 ounces, and I love it. I now shoot this revolver more than my 629-4 Mtn Gun, 629-5, 4" standard revolver, or my 329PD.
I now have my "feelers out" locally for a 2-1/2" mdl 69.

I bought a 4" M69 when they were 1st Released by S&W. I loved the way it shot, even with full power 44 Loads. I was hoping that S&W would release a Snubby, and when they did, I sold my 4.25 inch, added a couple of bucks, and got the 2.75" gun. I like the balance, and especially the different locking system on the 2.75.

I have the 4", and love it. I've been feeding mine 240gr LSWC in front of Universal, (6.5 grains) in magnum cases. It is a far more accurate gun than I am a shooter. I just bought some 200gr LRF but haven't loaded them up yet, as well as some Speer 200gr Gold-Dot. This gun is just FUN! I haven't loaded a full pressure magnum load yet, because I shoot paper with it. Just don't personally need the magnum end. When I carry it, I carry 180 grain, Hornady, but that round is significantly less accurate than the LSWC in mine. Still fine for self defense. This fun-gun will spoil you. If the wholes in the paper don't stay in the 9 ring in DA, I'm not happy with the round in this gun. I would like to change grips on mine. The grips are just okay, for my hands.
I have both bbl lengths. Bought the 4 1/4" when they came out. Added the 2.75" when it became avail. My favorite revolver platform. Would have trouble deciding on which bbl length if I had to choose. With that said, the 2.75" has been my go to .44 Mag for the better part of a year.

I found that the 2.75 inch 69 is an excellent trail and fishing companion. It has become my most carried revolver.
You'll love the model 69. I expected the recoil to be harsh, it isn't.

I bought one with the 4.25 inch barrel right after they came out and really like. It's accurate and handles much better than really large 44s like a Super Redhawk.
I use it as a very strong 44 special with the ability to shoot full power magnums. Those that want to shoot nothing but the hottest possible magnum loads should look elsewhere but if you want a gun for 44 special to moderate magnum ammo I would highly recommend the M69.
