Thoughts on M&P 40 Full Size

I ended up buying one....so far it has just sat in the safe since I have not had time to go to the range yet

Full Size S&WM&P40 with Crimson Trace Laser Grip is my Everyday Carry Weapon. Very easy to keep on target during rapid fire. I also like the fact that with just a barrel change I now have a 357Sig which is another very hard hitting caliber close to 357Mag ballistics.

Which barrel are you using for the switch....Smith and Wesson OE or the Storm Lake?

Been toying with getting one of these or getting a Glock 22 gen 4. Thanks for the reviews everyone

stay away from the glock gen. 4 for now. a lot of problems. the gen 3 's are the best glocks. i like the grip on mp's better. i own two glock's, g 19, gen 2, g22/17, gen 2. just got a MP 357/40 fs , and i like it better than glock. so far.

I ended up buying a FS MP 40 last Sunday, I will be looking at Glocks later on down the road though

I have no complaints about my M&P .40fs. Feels good in my hand, recoil is very manageable, plenty accurate for me. Even the factory trigger has broken in nicely.

I bought one recently because I needed another .40 (have a bunch of .40 cal lead bullets and brass, but no gun to shoot them in), and my local shop had a good deal on a trade-in that was basically brand new. Other than needing to drift the rear sight a bit to get it to shoot POA at 15 yards, it was great right out of the box. I'm almost wondering if someone put the Pro Series sear in it, because the trigger pull is right at 4.25 lbs. or so, and very nice. It's not an Apex sear.

So on the 9mm barrel, you can just drop a factory 9mm barrel into this gun and you're good to go? Other than using 9mm mags? Huh, that's interesting. Thought you might have to use a conversion barrel like with Glocks.

any time you go to a 9mm you have to use a conv. bbl. i have one in my g22 , 357, or 40 can go either way with same mag. i just got a police trade in at gun show (mp 40/.357 4.25 in. ) it had both bbl's. 3 mag's. does not looked as it was ever issued, no sign of wear marks no where, it was sold as used. $ 449.00.
the grip feels a lot better than my glock, but i would not take one over the other.

I have a .40 FS and a .40c and have a spare (factory) 9mm barrel for each (not conversion barrels). Both 9mm barrels have worked flawlessly in both the FS and 40c for over 500 rounds each. I have not bought 9mm mag's because they have fed perfectly with the 40 mag's, YMMV.

9 and 40

Hey, I liked the m&p 9 so well I bought a 40 also. Great guns. Thousands of rounds thru each one. A few FTF but usually either dirty extractor or a problem with the reloads. Not the greatest for concealment but then what full size is.

I love my M&P 40. I carry it in a "crossbreed super tuck" for concealed carry, very comfortable.
