Thoughts on N-Frame Holsters

For a couple years I carried a 4" full lug 625 in an El Paso Street Combat. This is a lined holster that is not tightly "boned" and can easily accommodate a few different revolvers. It was actually made for my 4" Redhawk (which I had carried first for a few years) and nowadays I use it to carry my 3" full lug 625. It also carries my 625 SAC Mountain Gun perfectly, as well as my 4" Model 64-5. The 64 has a heavy barrel and fits nicely despite being a smaller K Frame. You can not beat the Street Combat for versatility and I believe they still offer a beautiful version with an American flag carved on it. To this day I still find it comfortable for all day carry.

Don't laugh but back in my 20's I used to carry my 6.5" 629 Classic holsterless, butt forward inside the waistband (I was told it was "reverse Mexican"). I did put a flat piece of leather between me and the gun so the cylinder wouldn't rub me so much.

It probably worked for me because the only time I usually got to sit was in my vehicle going to or coming from work.
