Thoughts On Pending AR Ban

The difference is that back in 1994 there were not as many firearms enthusiasts who owned some flavor of modern sporting rifle as there is now. There are more of us to resist and fight against additional gun control legislation. We have better communication and organization than back then.

The internet and social media have played a huge role in this. The internet was in its infancy in 94. We are now able to become more organized and pass information quickly

Sooner or later something will happen to fire up anti gun hysteria and the cycle will repeat itself. A spare parts stash is not a bad idea, I just got a DPMS spare parts kit that was on backorder from Midway. It has all of the springs, pins and detents, spare ejector, ejector pin, gas rings, firing pin, etc... and a few other odds and ends. I plan to pick up a spare bolt when they become available again.

Better to have and not need than need and not have...

The cat is out of the bag. OP, if you are worried about AR types
becoming extinct(no matter how old you are),I would not
worry. I lost count of how many M16/AR15s Colt has made
but if you consider how MANY mags are out here in private
hands already,it has got to be staggering! I would guess it
has to be close to 100 mil, this is ONE type of firearm,no ID
on mags, they will NEVER be accounted for, much less picked up. Pete

POST SCRIPT on feinstein,I have watched her for years(even before
I lived here) and she will get re-elected everytime with all the liberal,
wealthy, enviro wackos, and pot heads that call this place home. She
feels empowered introducing her siht but Democratic politicians that
REALLY have to WORK at getting elected don't want to touch this with
a 10' pole, because they no it will put them out of office.

Who said that I'm not writing and calling?

I don't see the NRA logo by your name. Since December, I've purchased a life membership for my grandson and a yearly membership for my boss.

What are you doing?

I said "IF" your not.

And yes I am a member of the NRA and yes I do write and call my Senators and Congressmen/women.

Not sure why you took offense to that?

Do you know anyone that lives inher district that is out of work and can be talked into running against her? I am sure that a collection can be raised from the rest of the nation so we do not have to listen to her stupidity. Her fellow democrats would probably secretly be glad to see her go.

I live north of the three little PIGS, Barbra Boxer the clown, Nancy Piglinsky and the Queen of gun control Dianne Frankenstein, they are all liberal gods from San Francisco and will never be voted out of office, the only way to get rid of the rodents would be term limits or natural causes.:D

What concerns me more is the actions that may be taken by individual states. It's always been CA in the lead for crazy restrictive gun regulation. But with NY upping the ante I fear the worst when the new legislation is presented here in CA. :(

But you also have to remember the rest of us out here. The midwest,North,South... We ALL (for the most part) grew up around hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Weapons are just about an everyday way of life from the time we grow up. A great deal of this is "saber rattling" and we'll end up where we were to begin with. WE are not the problem,it's the system and the people elected that aren't doing anything more than designing a better upper "welfare class" for themselves. Wish I could retire on $179,000 and have free health care for life and all the rest of their perks.

EXACTLY this.

Many people believe we have already won the war on gun control. But, I'm sorry to say it has just begun and will be at last many years. Here is why:

Liberals have been waiting for full gun control for fifty years. It is estimated they have spent 12 to 15 billion in America buying up all kinds of media behind the scenes so they can indoctrinate the public. We have just heard the "warning shot" from the liberal media on gun control (no pun intended).

From now on the national liberal media will continue to pound the air waves with noises like "crisis, gun control, crisis, gun control…" when a minor shooting that was previously a simple report on local ten o'clock news is now treated like a national problem. Those gun related incidents that appear "outrageous" will be fodder for the white house to continue to press for more gun control.

In this way the liberal media and political pressure believes they will beat up "gun nuts" like it did in England and Australia, which purged themselves of all hand guns because of the relentless attacks on gun owners. Eventually liberals believe using this method they will get the congress to crack from public pressure and build an initial gun control. Once congress cracks the liberal media will slowly chip away at public opinion making the gun owner feel "like a criminal" like they did in England and Australia. The end result was total gun control.

NEVER happen.

We as American gun owners are stronger than we have ever been since the time the firearm had ever came about. Especially the AR owners. We have a long and hard fight on our hands and as a free law bidding gun owners, we can not let those government bureaucrat's take away what is rightfully ours. We can not be treated as the criminal but as a person who loves our country and our flag. Let us all stand together and fight to keep that freedom as it was meant to be by our founding father's, and that one of all freedom is the right to bear arms. Remember the men and women of the military who died for it. God Bless America.

There is a lot of truth to this statement. Back then even I didn't see a need for a Modern Sporting Rifle. I have a very different view now as the "climate" has changed. I have also found they can be very handy and more versatile than my deer rifle. Much cheaper to shoot and I don't mind if it gets bumped around a little bit.

We are also able to find out the other side of the story and real facts too. The internet makes it harder for the media to only feed us what they want us to hear. So now we can truely, find out the rest of the story.

AGREED! NEVER gonna happen. They may limit magz and all the real rifle heads know that this is a real possibility hence the price of mags right now. The only people dropping this crazy money on assault rifles are senseless people with really deep pockets, and first time buyers. You can still get a good rifle at a good price if you stalk wal marts and shop gun trader.

Ban

Just my thoughts, if the gov't can not stop the tons of drugs flowing across the souther border, what makes anyone think that if they create a new class of criminals (gun ban) that the black market will not supply the need!!! Only the weapons will be full auto. Shades of Al Capone thats what (prohibition) got this all started in the first place. Those who don't unserstand history are bound to repeat it.
