Managed to snag a M&P 15t a few weeks ago from an honest dealer for just under a grand. After cleaning and optics installation (Bushnell Holoscope) the wife and I hit the range and we put a combined 600 rounds thru it. Flawless with nice tight groups out to 100 yards. First time I have handled an AR in many years and S&W has done it right. Anyone else have one and how do you feel about it?

Yes the M&P is 1 of the top quality ar's. I have 1 and have about 4,000+ rounds through it with no issues at all. great gun.

I have a 15A and agree with TDR911...it's a quality rifle.

Love it cost about half as much as an Eotech at $170 and does the same things. More streamlined (the XLP model) and runs on AA batteries which is a big plus.

Anyone know if S&W actually makes the M&P rifles. Heard they were actually made by Stag arms for S&W.

I think the M&P15's are first rate. My department purchased them about a and a half ago to replace our old patrol rifles. They have given outstanding performance thus far.

I bought my son one of the M&P15s for HS graduation and just before he left for the Army. I've owned a bunch of ARs and it's right up there in quality.

The very early M&P15's were made by CMT/Stag. Now, some parts are outsourced but S&W makes a lot in-house and does the assembly in-house.

Not really sure the S/N range when the switch was made.

I keep seeing 50,000 as being the serial number that represents S&W taking over manufacture 0f the M&P rifles. I'm not sure about the accuracy of that though.

I have the 15A model with an Aimpoint Comp M2. It has been perfect with all but one load. It short stroked with good regularity on Black Hills 55gr red box! The Black hills was exceptionally accurate. But the rifle was pretty much brand new so maybe it was a little tight. I checked over the staking on the BCG, gas ring alignment, looked at the mags, tried different mags, checked the gas block. Could find nothing wrong with the rifle. It's eat everything else I've put in it from day one except that. My rifle absolutely loves the Prvi brass case stuff. I'm working through a case of PMC gold now. It running great.
