I see threaded barrels on guns for sale now and was wondering if the law has changed on the use of supressors.
It would be nice to shoot without the noise in close neighborhoods. I say this for rural areas. I can shoot in my backyard but it would be nice to shoot quieter.

Here in VA if I want a supressor or SBR all I have to do is go to my local Class III dealer, tell him what I want and pay for it. Then fill out the ATF paperwork, pay my NFA tax stamp and wait 2-4 months.

Indiana is the same as bharner stated for VA. I suspect KY is the same. Google for KY Class III dealers and you will probably find someone close by to walk you through the process.

I don't know about KY, but here in Indiana you can use the suppressor for target practice, but no hunting.

May be some are like me, I just bought a new HK USP .45 Tactical (has threaded barrel), but for the extra length and the "O" ring and match trigger, I'll never need a silencer, after all these years of shootin & workin around heavy equipment I have my own built in silencer...lol...
Have a good one...XPman...

You Can......

hunt suppressed in KY. They don't care if the animal can hear the shot or not. Indiana wants you to give 'em a FAIR chance to run.

For us in WA, as of sometime in June we are now able to actually shoot with suppressors (prior to that you could own one but not shoot it in the state). This included law enforcement.

Mi recently OK'd suppressors. In the past few years they have also accepted new select fire as opposed to only C &R machine guns. BUT a SBS or SBR is illegal, as is a rifle with 16" barrel, but with a folding stock that takes its overall length to less than 30", BUT you can have a pistol-shotgun (shotgun with pistol grip and 18" barrel ) and it is registered as a pistol. Marble arms gamegetters are being made with 18" barrels and with pistol grip are legal, but illegal if they have the folding stock??? Go Figure Back to suppressors, they are treated as select fire weapons but only decrease the sound of a firearm. I suppose you could discharge a cartridge by hitting it with the can, but you can do that with a rock!! I do not understand the laws only follow them. Be Safe.
