I'm going to leave it to the professionals to get the job done properly, but I want to make sure everything gets done quickly and efficiently with as little time wasted as possible.

If you either thread the standard 16" barrel, or chop it down to around 11.5" (done in accordance to all applicable laws) do you need to remove the barrel from the upper?

Will I need to get a barrel nut wrench or get one made before I go to this step?

How does one "clamp" the shorter barrels to work the barrel nut?

If you shorten the barrel, you will need a shorter barrel wrench so you have some exposed barrel to clamp in a vise. You should use barrel vice jaws so you don't wreck your barrel.

You can cut your wrench to whatever length you need.
But if you put a free float hand guard on, you won't need the standard 4 prong barrel nut wrench.

I got a wrench Ill sell ya for 20 shipped, I have a freefloat now.

I feel Everyone needs a barrel wrench to check their barrel from time to time and to deep clean once every few 1000 rds. But I myself ask people to leave the barrel in the upper when they ship. It will protect the ejector which is very easy to break.
