Tide has Shifted - Mags and Ammo in stock

I'm curious, where are you seeing "lots" of 9MM?

I've have a list of websites that I check multiple times a day, and the only thing I see rarely popup is very expensive defensive ammo. Admittedly I skip over that because I'm looking for range ammo, not self defense ammo.

Won't help you in TX but we generally keep 9mm range ammo in stock. .40, .22LR on the other hand is tougher. I will be delivering 8,000 rounds of .40 tomorrow so we aren't out for long.

Tide is not going to shift until the Mfg are done making the 1.6 billion bullets for Home Land Security.

Would be like me telling my wife she doesn't need another pair of shoes. She "needs" shoes. I "need" a closet full of ammo. We have been married 34 years. Actually, the floor on her side of the closet is stacked with shoes. My side is stacked with cases of ammo.

Sounds like our closet! (We are coming up on 39 years of marriage.)

A great example of why I am so lucky:

On Friday, I was looking at compact 9mm handguns with a friend. (No ammo or mags to be found in the stores, so why not do some window shopping?) I found a Diamond Back DB9, and it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. I was not completely sold on the idea of a .380 Auto, primarily because I have so much 9mm already. To me, the DB9 reminded me of a single stack Glock. I have a Glock 19, but for me, it is just too bulky to consider for carry. And the Baby Glock (G26) is still too wide for my preference, since it is still a double stack.

I did not buy it, figuring I'd do a little research (and it was not likely to get sold out from under me ...)

Called my wife after leaving, and told her she was lucky that I didn't buy it. My friend and I have been known to get the same gun at a store after going shopping together. She replied "Why didn't you just get it?" I told her I might do a little research. By the time she got home, I had convinced myself this was the gun for me. We went to the store, I bought it, we had dinner out, and I am ready to go shoe shopping with her anytime she wants. ;)

Last time I checked Feds weren't using 15-22s, people are buying up ammo for calipers they don't own hoping to cash in on the panic. Even people that own .22s are buying a lot more than they normally do "just in case". Large government orders for war time ammunition have never depleted the .22 ammo or we would have seen this same event occur every year we have been at war. People wouldnt even sell .22 ammo on gunbroker next time you have a chance go look at all the new gunbroker members selling it I would put money on the fact probably 80% don't own a .22 or they would keep it for themselves.

Does it matter who points out what the fed is doing?

If you have better numbers please feel free to post..

According to one of the clerks in sporting goods, our local Walmart hasn't had any 22lr for about a month. Same with .223. I've been buying 22mags when they have them. Once in great while they'll have a box or two of Remington .44 mags. No 45 auto or 38s. I've been able to score those at Big 5 Sporting Goods once in awhile. I have enough special loads for HD like 00 buck, slugs, 45 auto+Ps, 44 mag (including some Buffalo Bore), 38+Ps, and .357s. I need lots more 22lrs.:)

Local Gun Show in KC this past weekend and there was plenty of ammo of all flavors for most of Saturday and Early Sunday. By 2 PM Sunday afternoon 9mm & 45ACP were pretty much gone. Plenty of 22LR from $3 a box on up & by Sunday afternoon the only 22s left were value packs of 550 for $70 plus. 9mm was selling for $20 a box of 50 and $15 for the 20 round self defense loads. Plenty of 223 @ $.75 a round and up. 30 round P Mags were $25 to $45 each with hundreds available and plenty left at the end of the show. Factory Colt 30 round mags were $25 with probably 1000 available. ARs, complete rifles, uppers of every configuration and lowers the same way were everywhere and approaching pre panic prices i.e. Complete uppers less the bolt for $600 and up, stripped lowers $99 and up, Complete rifles $1050 and up. The LGS may not have any inventory but the KC gun show had just about everything people were looking for. AR 22 caliber magazines and 22 caliber magazines for pistols were the only things that were either in short supply or not available.

This is why all my centerfire ammo is hand loads, and had been for about 30 years.

Wish I had the space to set up a handloading factory.

I randomly called one of my sporting goods stores this morning and they had just got a truck in with 25 boxes of 9mm for 15, 50 boxes of 223 for 14 and 20 525 bricks of 22lr for 35.

anything 20-50 rds per box was a 3 box limit. anything 200 rounds or more was a 1 box limit.

I maxed out on every caliber I could use. And I still can't seem to get back the stock I want. :(
