I saw this pistol on fakebook and I'm in a disagreement with a gentleman who describes it as a "New Mod.#3". I have had several DA's pass through my hands before I found my keeper and I'm currently awaiting the arrival of NM#3 I recently won at auction. You gentlemen have been sterling in helping me acquire knowledge about these pistols and unless I'm sadly mistaken, the pictured pistol is a 1st. Mod. DA which is my contention, not the NM#3 as the poster claims.

Hi There,

I see this as a matter of semantics. We usually refer to
to this model as the '44 Double Action 1st. Model' but
it was also referred to as the 'New Model Navy No. 3
Double Action Revolver.' So, there is some precedence
for referring to one as a New Model No. 3 so long as
the 'DA' is used with it.

Cheers!
Webb
