"Time Machine" S&W's - Show me Yours...

Just Returned from a 1958 Trip to Oshmans in Houston, TX. I picked up a couple of fancy ones...

357 Magnum (S. Rentzschke engraved non model marked 4 screw):



Early Model marked 29 (R. Smith engraved):



What's the use in having a time machine if you don't head to the great stores - I would assume that many of us would also head to Rex in NY or HH Harris in Chicago...

I guess I can add a few more. Nickel 357 from 1955. 5 screw 44 Magnum from July,1956 and 5 screw 44 Magnum from November, 1956.

Alright...I'll play. These are both old enough to fit in , one that's in incredibly good shape ( lets say I picked it up from the used counter in the late 50's )

And one that , lets say , I picked up in the late 20's from the used counter after someone wore it daily for a few years as a constant companion.

It lettered with checkered,rosewood target grips.

Here's a couple more. A .32 hand ejector,improved I-frame shipped in 1951, and a .32 Regulation Police Target shipped in 1957.

Seeing Bill's 1955 Nickel 8.375" 357, I set the dial on my machine and picked one up for myself (shipped to Rex Firearms on July 20, 1955):





There were a bunch of other cool guns in the counter, unfortunately I didn't have the time to bring them all home... I might just have to go back...

I seem to recall an outstanding recent posting of a collection (something like the "pre-27 blues...") that would be the envy of any pre-27 collector. Who was the poster on that great thread... oh yeah - it was you. After you posted your interest in amassing the nickel side of that same collection, I got to thinking and I cannot recall seeing a 5" nickel pre-27 (I probably just have not paid attention and I'm sure they are out there, I just don't recall seeing them). Looks like you're going to have to fire up the time machine and head to Rex or HH Harris... BTW, when you're back there next time, can you please pick me up a few of those gold 3.5" and 8.375" boxes.
