I acquired a model 39 with the wraparound rubber grips, the grips looked very bad. I have wood grips coming for it. I sprayed the pachmayer grips with mcquires tire foam and it improved them greatly.
Sorry if this is an old trick, I was really pleasantly suprised at how well it worked.
