To trade or not to trade......... took your advice. Pix

If you plan on shooting it a lot, especially with magnum loads, I'd choose the 586. The L frame is more robust than the K frame and adjustable sights are nice on a range gun. For CC, they're both too big and heavy for me to carry everyday. I suspect given equal condition, the 586 is worth more. I do prefer fixed sights on most carry guns.

Thanks guys, I'm really torn. The 586 is a "bit" over priced at $550, but it is very, very nice and I could certainly make up the difference considering what I paid (or didn't pay) for the M13....

ps.
I shoot very, very little. Mostly buy and store.

Prolly just me, but I only like the 3" blued 13's. Good looking guns! I have a buddy who has a blued 3" gun with the crown polished bright that I covet. It makes the muzzle look big when it's pointed at you.

Classic carry piece.

I'd rather have the 4" 586. Personally I prefer the easier to see adjustable sights. I don't see their durability as an issue. It's not like it would be my only gun if the sights were temporarily damaged, and they're pretty tough anyway.

If you are to shoot it I would do the trade in a heartbeat...

I am not into regular nickel and the versatility and strength of the L frame is well known. I have K frames and one L frame and am always on the look out for a deal on another - or three

In reality they are both good pieces and either will serve most well if you don't need adjustable or fixed sights over the other.

oh yeah, I'd trade. S&Ws L-frames are probably one of the best full size .357s out there. Adj sights are better for a range gun, and a 4" nickle K-frame just doesn't seem like much use for a carry gun.

N-itis,

I've got that covered in a nice 2.5" version. I like the way you think though!

I was hoping to hear you all say that $550 for a 586 is way too high and move on. Any one?....Any one.....?

I don't trade. Even when the numbers are in my favor, I feel bad about it afterword. It's really hard to let one of my kids go to a new home.
