Today is National Puppy Day!

I've lived with Rottweilers for over twenty-seven years now...females often seem like a different breed to me. My Annie is incredibly laid back 98% of the time, but just let a stranger approach the house and she morphs into Annie the Warrior Queen. My old girl, Alex, was the same way. My girls have lived to be touched by a kind and loving hand...just don't be someone who looks threatening.

Your girl Ziva is beautiful.

Yours are great looking pups and thanks for the compliment on Ziva. I rescued her, she was roughly 1. I think she was probably left to fend for herself though she was pretty well trained already. I also think a woman was very prominent in her life as even though she bonded to me very quickly she is especially fond of females (well so am I :D).

She is also very protective as you mention Annie is. My vet seems to think there's a bit of Lab in her, she loves the snow too which is good ahaha.

I wish I could sleep like dogs do, then wake up without a care in the world...

Well...maybe except for deciding what to watch next on TV.

Thank You!

Beau says "Thank You" to all of you who have contributed so positively to this thread so far. The photographs and comments are wonderful. Don't stop now.

But in the meantime, Beau says he has places to go, things to see and smell, trees and bushes to pee on...

He's just waiting on his chauffeur. Guess who that is?

In addition to the bonds dogs form with us, I'm constantly fascinated with the bonds they form with each other. Being pack animals, dogs are extremely social and attuned to each other. My own two dogs seem to be in constant communication with each other...almost like telepathy. They often act in conjunction with each other, even though I can see no communication exchanged between them.

We were wolves once, wild & wary, stealthy & cunning.

Then we discovered furniture... :D

Oh man is that an understatement. In 4 years that I've had him I saw him lay down on the floor twice and neither of those times he looked comfortable. He looked like he was being forced to lay on jagged rocks. I have doggy beds in every room.

This was him trying to lay down on the floor a few months ago. It took him a few minutes to get that comfortable

Mine doesn't know what to do when we have company and the living room furniture is all taken. She just paces back and forth.

Absolutely the same, which is why I have those doggy beds in every room. He always wants to be near people so he stays in the room that people are in. Rarely does he leave and it's usually because something scared him....like laud talking
