Tom Cruise as Longmire!?!?

I watch actors for their acting. I could not care less about their religious beliefs nor their opinions. The less I hear about both, the better. But the media and forums just keep throwing it in everyone's faces. Give it a rest. Just watch the show.

Nearly everyone who hear Randy Newman's song "Short People" took it the wrong way. He meant it a satirical look at discrimination and prejudice of all types. The song was meant to poke fun at how stupid many people's reasons were for how they felt against others. Hence his inclusion of the verses:

Short people are just the same as you and I
A fool such as I
All men are brothers until the day they die
It's a wonderful world

I don't think Tom Cruise has been in a western leaning role as of yet. Should be interesting to see if what he brings to the character.

Thought he learned his lesson as Reacher, guess not. Supposed to be out later this year. A lot of the other originals are supposed to be in it.
Learned what lesson, he nailed that part. The big muscled clown in the series is a waste of dialogue & makes me laugh. If Cruise is in it he will own it & it will be extremely well made. It will also make a massive amount of money & not attempt to talk down or virtue single me. Tom wants to entertain his audiences and IMO does a great job.

Tom Cruise as Longmire? Uh, uh. He did ok as Reacher, but I had read the Reacher books and had certain expectations which Alan Ritchson comes closer to fulfilling. I have read the Longmire books too, and thought he was pretty well portrayed in the serAs an aside, the Longmire books are set in a part of the world I am fairly familiar with.
C. J.Box's Joe Pickett books are set in the same area. So how is it possible that Walt Longmire and Joe Pickett have never crossed paths, at least as far as we know?

Tom Cruise knows how to make a movie people want to watch and gets into the role. That being said I have a hard time seeing him as Longmire. I will probably watch it anyway. I like to be entertained. I can suspend disbelief for 100 minutes.

Tom Cruise as Longmire? Okay, I can live with that.
As long as he doesn't senselessly cycle his 1911 after each shot like Aussie Craig Johnson did I'll be okay.
Cruise has been well-trained in firearms including live-fire exercises. For instance see "Collateral" and also look at the training extras which he duplicated in the film.

As far as being Longmire, Cruise probably won't try to emulate the TV actor nor even bother with some aspects of the books. He'll be a Longmire of his own creation and that's often what actors do. Books often are merely suggestions and outlines for movies.

They got little cars that go, "beep, beep, beep":)

My little 2007 Hyundai Accent goes "beep, beep, beep" too. After 18.5 years of ownership the little guy gave it all it had. Leaky gas tank and corrosion in the same are as the leak that holds up the tank. My mechanic said that it would cost around $1000 and "probably wouldn't survive the surgery". It's getting traded in tomorrow for a 2025 "Intense Blue" Elantra. Still gonna miss my "little bean":(

Yep, we have fallen for facebook AI fakery. This "movie" does not exist.

Reminds me of the Ford Bronco forum. Half the members there fell for a facebook AI rendering of a supposed 2026 redesign of the Bronco. It was totally bogus. Ford has now released some photos of a 2026 special edition. There is no redesign. Minor changes only.

We would all do well to remember the old saying, Don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see.

Of course, the hard part is figuring out which half.

I saw a pic on youtube of a 2026 Goldwing with a roof on it! I had to click on it. Not even close.

While Longmire may be a hoax IMDb shows a remake of The Gauntlet as in preproduction with Scarlett Johansson in the Sondra Locke role.

Saw the Eastwood original with my academy class the night before graduation.

Cruise is a good actor and I've liked many of his movies.
However, he sucked as Reacher and I have no doubt he'll suck as Longmire. I just can't see him as a country Sheriff.

Collateral was a great movie, but that was a tongue-n-check crack about the idiocity of hollywierd's gun awareness.

I've been tall all my life, there is nothing worse than a short cop with a stick and a chip on his shoulder, trust me on this one. I have never been impressed with Cruise as an actor, he is short but that has nothing to do with except where he is portraying someone nearly a foot taller than he is.

I can't even picture him as Reacher after watching the Prime series with Alan Ritchson as Reacher. I haven't seen much of Longmire but I can't picture Cruise as any of the characters.
