Tomb Guards at Arlington National Cemetery...

When my BIL the Marine was stationed at Quantico I went up one Christmas with my parents to visit. We visited Washington and I really enjoyed Arlington Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown. We also went to the Wall and I visited the Smithsonian for a day.

I will confess to getting a bit teary eyed each time I hear the bugler play Taps for a friend or relative. The changing of the guard is on an entirely different level. The precision, perseverance and commitment of the Old Guard must be seen to be fully appreciated. I had the honor and privilege of seeing the changing of the guard once. I was probably about twelve, a Boy Scout. I still remember it today, nearly fifty years later. It is on my bucket list to witness at least once more.

These are some of the pics I took from an Honor Guard flight visit in DC in September, 2015. Not only do the Tomb guards serve to protect the Tomb, but they also are charged with raising and lowering the flag near the amphitheater that's nearby. Everything is done with precision and respect.
