Tons of M&P22 failures - Was it the ammo, or me?

I've been using the bulk blazer lead round nose from day 1 and after 700+ rounds I haven't had any issues at all. The same ammo works great in my M&P 15-22 rifle as well. I'm a rookie and bought a case of this ammo when i bought the pistol and rifle. I guess I may have gotten lucky.

If you bought all that Blazer ammo when you purchased the gun, then yeah, you got pretty lucky - and good for you, I wish I got that lucky. I've been doing what I can with the ammo that I've been able to find. I did find some CCIs on GunBroker - I paid more than I should have for them, but I'm tired of them always being out of stock in stores and I want to finally run some quality ammo through this blasted gun.

As others have said, clean it.

Beyond that, remember that it's basically a Walther inside and those guns are know for being stupidly picky about ammo. My M&P22 wouldn't work reliably on any of the different brands of bulk pack ammo. The only thing it liked 100% of the time was CCI MiniMags FMJ.

Yup - read that all over, and I'm trying my best to get my hands on some Mini Mags without paying double the price for it.

But this thread confirmed my initial impressions - my gun just doesn't like those Federal Champions, and that's it. It does like some other Federal ammo that I put through it, but it still wasn't flawless.

Just about all of the bulk pack ammo is crappy for semi auto pistols. It does not feed well at all in my Ruger MKII Target. I have found, as many others, CCI is some of best .22 ammo around. However, my pistol does not like the Hyper velocity 32 grain stuff. It functions more reliably with the 36-40 grain ammo. I think it has something to do with the shape of the bullet, less weight makes it more pointed causing feed problems in my Ruger. I have also noticed with the bulk pack stuff some of the ammo was slightly dinged/damaged causing most feeding problems.
