During the 2005 IOC meeting in Singapore, then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair successfully lobbied members on behalf of London's bid for the 2012 Summer Games. Two years later, Vladimir Putin, then president of Russia, helped secure the 2014 Winter Games for Sochi on Russia's Black Sea coast.

During the 2009 IOC meeting in Copenhagen, United States President Barack Hussein Obama appeared and made his teleprompter-assisted pitch for Chicago to host the 2016 games.

Chicago was eliminated on the first ballot.

HOW could this ever happen? And after the spin doctors get through with this, WHO will get the blame??? I'm waiting to hear from Jimmy Carter on this...

Chicago was never a serious contender to begin with. Why he wasted his time going is beyond me. There was a lot of pressure to have the games in South America, since they have yet to be held there. (Never been held in Africa either)

NY only got to round two in the 05 bid for the 2012 games.
