Tony Romo...Or how to beat up on a Cowboy fan

My fan period was when the Raiders were crushing the world. Lonely Texan for sure, but I could get all kinds of points from my fellow Texans, and money was almost free at the local bar. Payback is a *****, but silver and black are still my favorite colors. Snake,Jerry,Matuz,Romanowski, Sapp...all gone...Needless to say, I don't bet anymore.
I don't even watch anymore:( boo hoo I hate football....

I grew up a Browns fan and the Browns haven't had a decent QB since Frank Ryan. That said I do have to say that Tony Romo is an exceptionally sucky Quarterback. Frankly, I'm surprised that he hasn't been Tarred and Feathered and run out of town. Fact is that Dallas has fans nearly as rabid and the Brown's fans in the Dog Pound.

My favorite team remains NYG, but I do become a temporary fan of anybody who beats Dallas. :D

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Don't ya mean the New JERSEY Giants!

Never figured why the Giants and Jets claim to be from NY when their home stadium is in NJ.

Then again , I suppose I would never claim to be from NJ either.

The modern day Dallas Cowboys are the team everyone loves to hate. I think because it's owner is a boob and their QB is a professional choker. Romo is as dependable as Timex. As soon as the game is meaningful and the season is on the line, you can depend on good ol' Tony to gag on the big one. I love that he gets to think about his performance for 7 months and listen to his critics who he now knows are right.

Like the OP, I have been a Cowboy fan since the beginning...season tickets in Cotton Bowl, Texas Stadium, etc. My mood for the week was predicated by the outcome of the Sunday game. As such, I didn't have many things that I hated as much as the Foreskins. For the record, I gave up my tickets when the Jones era began...just couldn't fade the change in the culture. Now I get about as excited by any of the pro teams as I do with the latest hollywood flash.

This year my feelings have changed since my fellow Baylor grad, RG III, is leading them. Griffin and Morris are REAL. Congrats to the 'Skins. Hope they go all the way.

Big 49er fan here, hate the Cowboys. They were never America's team in my book.
That said, Romo could probably place kick better than David Akers. ARG!

I became a Cowboy fan in 1965 when my dad was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. The Cowboys games were shown on TV every Sunday. We didn't have pro football in Atlanta at the time (and still didn't until Mike Smith got here) so that was my first exposure to the NFL. Loved the days when they would get in the huddle and Dandy Don would tell Bullet Bob, "You run as fast as you can and I'll throw it as far as I can." When Jones did Tom Landry as dirty as he did, to me the Cowboys became just another team. I still like to see them win but I'm not a rabid fan anymore. But hey Gunslinger, look at it like this. You could be a Jaguars fan! I don't think we could beat Vanderbilt for goodness sake.

I'm also a Raider's fan since a friend is on the coaching staff.

I'm not a Dallas fan at all, in fact I hate them, and Pittsburgh.

But Romo is a bum. The first year he started, and was named to the pro bowl was a joke, he has been pushed and pushed by ESPN and the media for what, im not sure, he is awful. Glad you have him though...

Jerry Jones a piece of work too, but thats another story

meanwhile,TAMPA BAY enjoys remarkable success!

Do tell. Your insight is so valuable.

Slinger....did ya loose a few shekels on the game ?
My dad-burn team went from number one seed to three.
Doubt they will advance very far in the playoffs.

Surprised that Chicago fired Lovey Smith today.

Romo is a decent athlete but makes a lot of bonehead plays. Along with Rivers, Sanchez, Stafford, Bradford and Vick, most overrated QBs in NFL. Then again, the Dallas head coach is better as an OC or a number 2...Just doesn't have the aura to be a head coach like Jimmy Johnson.. The trouble with the Boys is their owner, an egomaniac who thinks he knows something about football.

jlrhiner sez;

"I just heard Romo got pissed and threw his helmet.

It was intercepted."

I laughed my head off!

I feel sorry for the players and the fans. Jerry Jones is probably an excellent study for how to get rich but a poor leader. He never learned that you hire a plumber but never tell him how to do his job or what tools to use.

I have always felt Romo was not mentally tough enough to play in the NFL. he flinches as he throws just before he gets hit. His face can be read like a book as well as his body language. You can see him quit mentally.

A long time ago in my high school days we played a team that had a "Romo". He was a gifted athlete but a wuss. A few good hits on him and he quit.

Being a Skin's fan for many years I have to say most of us act like conservatives. We whine about the team around other skins fans. On the other hand most Cowboys fans act like well the other side. My 11yr old even notices it. Had a local call me Sunday early and said "hey would you like to come over and watch the skins lose." I laughed and said no my son and I are watching the game at home. Funny didn't hear from him today. Nor did any of the Cowboys fans show up at the local tavern. We have a nice name for Romo around here. It's called Nomo. No matter what happens in the playoffs my son and I will still relish the win in quiet. Never rubbing anyone's nose in it like the almighty Cowboys fans have done to us. I'm from this area and support the home team. Always have, always will. I only wish 72 had hurt him worse when he sacked him.

Very mixed feelings regarding Mr. Romo. He is a talented but very flawed QB.

I am of the opinion that Jerry Jones has brought the Cowboys from being an exceptional dominating team to an exceptionally mediocre team.

I am very curious how Mr. Romo would have performed on a true Dallas team.
