My daughter who is a college freashman asked if I would take a friend and her out trap shooting. The friend had never shot a firearm before and when I saw how tiny she was, I was reluctant but they insisted. Evidently some a female counselor at their school is a competitive trap shooter and they wanted to try it.
All I had was a sxs LC Smith 12 ga. Gave them some basic safety and etiquette tips and away they went. Not a lot of targets were broken but they were all smiles. My daughter broke seven in one string.
This caused one of the men to come over and ask about a gun for his daughter. He wanted a way out of a father daughter dance and thought that this might be a better way for him to spend an evening. He ran off to buy a youth stocked 870 and get his daughter. He wanted her to see some girls her age shooting trap. Never saw him but he was so on fire that I am sure he won't be embarrassed on a dance floor soon. Funny.

I love to see younger folks shooting trap.

Some of those kids are so much better that I will ever be. Their eyes and coordination put me to shame.

My wife, who never enjoyed shooting handguns with me (though she could shoot) is now my trap shooting buddy.

My friend's daughter, Karen Dickman, just cleaned about everyone's clock at the Florida State Shoot.

KIds and young men and women are the future not only of this sport, but of the anti-gun control movement.
