Picked it up used at a LGS today but looked NIB to me. Maybe a box or 2 of ammo through it

First 50 rounds were throwing brass in my face, last 150 no problems. Another reason I think the gun is close to new.

The sights on the VTAC are something else. Top sight is Fiber and bottom is tritium. That fiber optic REALLY stands out and gives a nice sight picture. 50 rounds of Blazer Brass and just about 150 Tulammo BrassMax. No feeding issues at all and once past 50 Rounds the brass was ejecting properly and not off my noggin lol

553 OTD

It's a keeper!

I also recently purchased a VTAC 9mm I gotta say I love it. So far only ran one box of Winchester white box through it. But no failures what so ever at this point. I have read in several places that the front sight has a tendency to fall off?? Also some concerns that the finish may be easily worn. Anyone with any more experience on this weapon could possibly chin in and help about the issues?

I really like the VTAC pistols. Maybe someday, but I need a 5 in C.O.R.E. in 9mm first.

I put about 400 rounds through it this weekend and so far so good with the sights. I may be wrong but I thought the issues with the sights were on early production runs

The finish sure looks good but I don't think it is very resistant to wear such as holsters etc. It is a range gun for me so it won't ever see a holster

That's correct, newer models shouldn't have any problems.

Yeah I'd go with the C.O.R.E. on my list too. It's cheaper and a Pro Series. VTAC sights are $250. You can get a decent Red Dot for that and a RD is a LOT more accurate.
The VTAC is has tempted me many times though it's beautiful.

What is the trigger reset like on the VTAC, any different than a standard M&P? I put the Apex duty/carry kit in my Compact, really like it, wondering how it compares. Thank you.

Sorry, just saw this. I believe the trigger and reset on the VTAC is the same as the standard M&P line. My M&P FS 9 had the old reset in it so it was a change going to the VTAC. That being said I think the reset is the same in the newer models

VTAC Bravo Concealment

Hello everyone. I've had my M&P VTAC 9 for about two months and I love it. I bought it new and it was made Oct 2013 (according to the papers). No problems with the sights or feeding issues. Gun has about 300 rounds through it. It's my first M&P. I love it but damn those mags are expensive.

Pistol: S&W M&P9 VTAC (9mm)
Grip: Hogue M&P grip (OD) (for quick identification of firearm)
Holster: Bravo Concealment RTT and Mag Pouch (FDE)

VTAC Glocktech

And this is my Glocktech MIC holster for carrying IWB and I also put it on the gun for safe transport in a bag to keep something from potentially hitting the trigger.

Pistol: S&W M&P9 VTAC (9mm)
Grip: Hogue M&P grip (OD) (for quick identification of firearm)
Holster: Glocktech Original MICH (OD)

2t2, you're killing me here!! There's a new one sitting in a local store but it's priced at full retail-no way I could/would swing that.

I'm now back to trying to sell my Compact so I can get either a VTAC or a full size lol.

I really like my VTAC, but I just don't shoot it as well as my other guns. I actually have mine up for sell on a local forum. No bites yet but we'll see if I can move it... ;)

I had a stock full size 9, a full size 9 with apex kit, and a vtac 9. The vtac has probably 7k rounds through it with zero problems, and the apex full size about the same.

The vtac is the only one left in my safe. The trigger is better than the apex kit IMHO, I love it. I will not sell my vtac. Ever.

I just traded for a 9mm VTAC. really feels great. polished and sanded the machined marks out the trigger connector. Trigger is MUCH smother. I do have two questions
1. do most people change the trigger out
2. what sight picture is the fiber optic supposed to be?? and what picture is the night sights

ok just shot the Vtac . from 10 to 12 yards shot dead on with fiber optic sights using point of aim sight picture. all 6 shots touched each other at bullseye.
then backed up to 20 yards. shooting with fiber optics. I shot the same exact way. and for some reason I was 4" high. any idea why??
I was shooting off a bench on a bag.

I talked to a S&W rep this weekend at Shooters Outpost and he said the trigger in the VTAC is different than the regular M&Ps.....can anyone confirm this? They sure felt close to me

That's not what I've been told. I was told at the NRA Convention that the trigger is the same as the standard M&P. I handled a couple M&P's that were on display and the standard M&P felt like it had the same trigger as the one in my VTAC. That said, I'm already missing that gun. Wish I hadn't had to sell it, but I needed the cash :(

I think you are right......the triggers felt a "tiny" bit different when I did have my FS9. It was the older trigger though that didn't have the more pronounced reset

In any event I like my VTAC trigger. I don't think it is quite as good as the triggers on my XD9sc or my XDMs but it is very close
