Came into this today. Serial Number 2136XX. Nickel plated, locks up tight with top latch and when hammer is cocked. Bore is ok, still has rifling full length, light pitting, chambers are good, springs are strong. Someone fabricated a decent presentation case. I'm going to try to post 4 pics. I would like answers to all the usual: what is it, model, date, value, and any other info offered. I like it...

A .32 Double Action 4th model, from the late 1890s to early 1900s? The exterior may shine up nicely with some polish. No fair asking a value unless you tell us how much you paid first .

I'm not a fan of 'Polishing'. The finish, as is, is a badge of honor in my way of thinking; it's earned.

I have never like nickel, on anything but old car trim, certainly not on firearms. I'll leave it, maybe even help it shed a little.

I don't know the honest value but I like it and think you did good. I understand some don't care for nickel but I'm the opposite I would polish it up good and make it shine . Love me a nickel gun especially an old one .Someone loved it once that presentation case shows that.

It's impossible to tell when it shipped when the last 2 numbers are x'ed out. Someone can guess, but can be 5 to ten years off.

Like Don said, w/o the full serial number it's just a guess, however my guess, based on data bases for .32 DAs, that the gun left S&W between 1901 and 1904 and the stocks are not original, but are after market replacements ( no medallions) . Ed.

Yes, after market but they are genuine MOP and have age checks to show they are old.

You may not like nickel on firearms, but S&W finished more pocket pistols like that with nickel instead of blue.

Nickel plating was more durable than the blue gun finishes available at the time.

Don't polish it, leave it alone.

"Age checks ?" What are age checks in MOP stocks? Cracks? You sometime see age checks & cracks in old bone or ivory stocks, but I've never seen "age cracks" in MOP. Cracks and chips, yes, many times. Can you post a clear photo of these "age checks" you see? Ed.
