Top couple of guns you REALLY wish you hadn`t let go?

S&W Model 19
S&W 6 inch Model 29
S&W Model 640
Valmet M76
Belgian FN-FAL HB

All in the 80's and early 90's when I was younger and dumber. There's a whole load I regret not buying when I had the chance.

It happens! I only have 2 that I can think of off the top of my head. 40 some years ago, I sold my Stevens SXS 16 gauge shotgun. Nothing wonderful, but really liked it. I hunted back then. Sold it because it was expensive to shoot. I reloaded 12 ga. though.
Last 1 was a couple of years back. 65-3, 3". It was OK, but traded into a 586, no dash. It is a clean 4" gun. I would like to pick up another 3". It does not keep me awake at night. Bob

I guess the only gun I kind of regret letting go was a 10 1/2" barrel Ruger Blackhawk 357 Maximum. In a moment of weakness I let a guy I worked with them talk me into selling it. But I did convert it into another model 27, so I don't miss it so much I would want to buy it back or get a replacement.

My 4-inch Model 25-5 (pinned barrel) in perfect condition. 2 Guns on this forum made it even better than I could have, so it went to a good home.

My other is a Y2K run of the Performance Center's Model 27-7 (Blue, 4-inch, 8-shot). Little did I know that it would be a highly sought after specimen of the 'pre-lock' era.

1. Mint condition C96 "broomhandle" Mauser pistol engraved with the details of its original capture by an American during WWI in France. While such engravings could be spurious, I suspect this one was genuine - very detailed.

2. A "white box" Ruger Super Blackhawk, serial # 10030. These Super Bs were made immediately following the discontinuance of the mahogany presentation case and were shipped in a white box, which today is worth many times more than the gun itself due to a very small production run. The reason I traded the gun off is that my wife threw the box away during a housing move. She will never do that again.

K-22 and Remington Mod 121 Fieldmaster .22

In 1958, I sold a S&W Model 17 K-22 for .$20.00!
Yeah, I know what they go for now.
Best shootin' and most accurate revolver I ever had.

Then, in 1958, I sold a close to brand new Remington
Model 121 Fieldmaster .22 for $25.00.

Damn, that was a sweet shootin' .22!

Times change, I never sell a good gun now. Although
I did sell a llama Mini Max .45 ACP and never looked back!
That gun hated me. Anybody else could shoot it all day
with never a glitch, Every time I tried to shoot it, it would
not feed unless it was pointed straight down. (And no
I do not "Limp Wrist"!)

Model 28-2 4 inch and a 24-3 6.5 inch, both bought new by me. Both were sold/traded long ago. I have no idea why. Also a Browning BL22 Grade 2.

Ok let me think: A mint model 19 2 1/2" P&R, A Colt Combat Commander series 70, 2 consecutive serial number Colt SAA 5 1/2", A 629 no dash with Presentation case 8 3/8" barrel. And I wish I had my little baby browning .25 caliber back. Oh yea, my S&W model 10 that was my carry weapon when I was on NYPD. I think that about sums up my stupidity for the moment.

I have two, a 6" colt Anaconda, in 45 colt, and a customized Browning hi power

Had a 6" M610 over 20yrs ago now.....most accurate handgun I ever shot.
Young and broke, needed money....sold it away.

Had a 6" M19 and a 4" M586...same fate.

Don't sell anything now....lessons learned

Plastic guns I have never regretted selling. But I've sold 2 Model 66's and a mint 19-2. All P&R and perfect. Two 686's, one a 4" and one. 2.5. An al stainless Beretta 92FX INOX.

Miss all those. Others I've sold I could care less.

Well, I feel better now that some of you have come clean about your past indiscretions.
I guess I have learned from my mistakes and my hope is that others here who haven`t made the same mistakes will learn from ours and not repeat them. After all, that`s what we (older and now wiser members) should do for the younger members and perhaps spare them from making the same mistakes.
Of course, I never listened either...

Two of the last I let go were.....

I shall try not to bore you but one was a M-27 or a pre-Model of that persuasion, came by it by trading a 1965 era M-70 chambered for the .243 Caliber. Blue, 8 3/8" and obtained in 1965 or 1966. The other was an early M-19, 4", nickel plated that I carried while on duty in those very good days of old. Really wish both were back home, never knew what I had until I joined the association.

The Bodyguard 38 is my first S&W.
Regret letting the Colt Detective Special and the Walther PPK/S 9mm Short go, but life goes on and the Bodyguard is very nice. Today's ammo makes up for a lot.

I've sold my share of some really nice collectible guns, but I made crazy money compared to what I had in them, so was happy at the time. Yeah, I would like to have them back, but I would do the same thing over again. but the one I would really like to get back and KEEP is a

Chief spl airweight in the red box with bug screw
