model 35, any K frame round butt with a 4,5 or 6 inch barrel. I have even thought of converting my model 19-3 NICKEL TO A 6" bought parts years ago before I even had the pistols to go with. It was a good move as time went on it seems.

I am always on the lookout for a 3" model 13 (P&R) with a blued finish. I've seen a couple -3s over the years but I'm still looking for the elusive no dash, -1 or -2.

Jon: in the mid-to late 70's I was on leave and happened into a small gun store in Louisiana. He had one of the first Model 13 round butt, 3.0" barreled revolvers and they had just been chosen as the FBI sidearm. As I was drooling over it, the owner asked me if I had ever heard of Jim Clark - the gunsmith. I said I had, and the owner said that Jim Clark was a close personal friend of his, and that Clark's shop was just down the road. The owner said that if I bought the Model 13 he would take it to Jim Clark and throw the trigger job in for free. Unfortunately, a) I was on leave and didn't have any time; b) I was an E-1 with little to no money; c) I was young, dumb, and didn't understand that opportunity was knocking on my door BIG TIME. It only took me until last Saturday to finally get my Model 13 (a dash 3) in FBI configuration. She's a beauty, no flaws, no box, no docs, and not the original grips, but she's MINE! I'd post photos, but my camera and computer don't talk to each other.

Best of luck,

Dave

An original 58 was the hardest for me, until I finally found this last December.

Now it would have to be a 4" 25-5 and a 3" model 13. I had a 13, but sold it in a weak moment....still looking for another. Haven't found the 25-5 yet.

I'm looking for a run of the mill 4" heavy barrel mod 10. No big deal just hard to find here in West Virginia;at a fair price.

Count me among the crowds looking for a 3" CS1. Twenty years ago a hunting buddy of mine carried his in the field, and I was too cool to care. Since then, after hearing him go on and on about the gun, I now have the fever. Can't wait to send him an unannounced photo with my find...

An all original Registered Magnum in the condition, configuration I want, with the original box and a price that I can afford! I have come close and I have even made a few offers, but I still am without one. BUT HALF THE FUN IS THE CHASE!!!

A .22/32 Club Gun that letters to Doug Wesson. The guy that owns it also has a .22 Single shot Club Gun, both were GIVEN to him. I have offered to replace both guns, plus cash. No deal! The sad part is they were stolen from his house years ago. He got them back. Now he keeps them in a gunsafe, upstairs in his barn. I found them, it is tough to get them.

blued Mod. 15 2" I know their out there. But not around here.

What is the toughest Smith for you to to find? The bulk of my collecting is from 1953 or 4 to 1970. I prefer the "S" numbered N frames and early 19's. I'm not talking about special order guns just production guns. I've found it impossible to find 5" nickel 5 screw pre-27 or a pre-27 or any 27 for that matter in 6 1/2" or a pre-19 4" nickel. What have you found tough to find?

Hello Pumaonly
I Prefer the Five screw Pre-model stamped revolvers. This Intensifies the chase due to their age and availability. About Five Years ago, I made a Lethal Mistake that I have regretted ever since. I had a chance to purchase a Pre-27 Nickel Five screw revolver with a 6-1/2" Barrel and Passed on it. The seller of it wanted $1000.00 for it with no box, or tools included in the sale of it. At that time I felt his price was staggering, but as it turned out, I have Not seen one since then offered Either. :( It has been said that fewer than 10% of all S&W Pre-27s were made in Nickel finish from the early 1950s to the early 1980s time span, and I passed on one of the hardest barrel lengths to be offered in a Nickel finished variety being the 6-1/2" length. :( I did later come across a Nickel 3-1/2" Barrel Pre-27 example that shipped in July 1955 that I did not pass on and will never get rid of shown below.

Another model that had always eluded me was the Model 16 or Pre-16 Known as the Elusive K-32 Masterpiece revolver. These were made from 1947-1974 with only 3630 of them being produced so they do not Pop up often and the Pre-Models almost never show up out there. I did finally locate one after an exhaustive 25 Year search, so this is another one I was Lucky to find and add to the List of Hard to locate S&W revolver line up. I Once Had a Nice Model 48-2 revolver which is chambered in the .22 W.M.R. cartridge. This gun was Offered from S&W with an Optional .22 L.R. Cylinder fitted to the gun if the buyer was inclined to purchase it that way and mine had Both cylinder's, The box, tools and paperwork. In a Weak moment I sold it off, and deeply regretted it. That Mistake took me 14 Years to correct again when I came across the First year Model of 1959 Four screw revolver shown below that came with both cylinders. Oddly, S&W did not offer the spare cylinder of .22 L.R. with this gun until 1961 and mine had to have been sent back to S&W to have it's .22 L.R. cylinder fitted to it at a Later time as the extractor threads of the .22 L.R. cylinder are left hand threads that we saw come after 1961 time span and the guns Original .22 Magnum cylinder has right hand threads.

I Like most guys that have had a lot of S&Ws in the past years Certainly have had some seller's or swapper's remorse in the past, but I have found that if I remain Patient I have found that the ones that I have regretted letting go of, as they usually come back to us later down the road. Keep the faith and Keep Hunting those hard to find ones as the fun in it all to me is the Chase of Locating them....;) Here is some Inspiration for you to restore your faith in finding the tough to locate ones out there....;)

So far for me it's been another 4 or 5 screw K22. I have one for my oldest boy (now 9) and need another for my 6 year old. I've missed out on a couple here in the classifieds so it can be frustrating, but I know they are out there.

M27 - 5"
M19, Nickel, RB, 2½"
M29, blue, 6½"

The quest continues. I doubt I'll ever find them and if I do I won't be able to afford the asking price :(.

I'd like to find a 4" 44 2nd model. I'll take either a fixed sight or target model, I'm not too choosy. I'd be nice if it had an original box along with it, just for fun.
