A friend of mine is a tow truck driver. He drives a roll back and I have him haul vehicles for me.
He was called by the police to tow a vehicle to the police impound lot. The owners of the vehicle had just been arrested by the police.
He handles a lot of these calls but tells me that this is the strangest one yet.
He arrives where the vehicle is located. He loads the SUV onto his rollback. He gets inside of the vehicle to put it in park, and notices a bag on the passenger side floor. He picks up the bag and looks inside of it and it is full of money, a bunch of money.
He radios the police and they meet him at the impound lot. They open the bag and count the money, and there is $80,000.00 in the bag.:eek:
He still cannot figure out how the police missed the money.:confused:

Maybe I shouldn't read Machiavelli, but could it have been a test to check on the honesty of the tow-truck driver? I wonder if things have turned up missing when other agencies/drivers had been used.

No, probably not. They wouldn't have used 80 grand. Maybe 5 or 10, but not 80.

I think if they were testing it would have been with a much smaller amount. A couple hundred is one thing but a large amount is likely to make most people nervous.

Easy. There was originally $160,000.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well ~ that's better than what a local tow driver here found.

After picking up a car involving a fatality .... a left front foot was still inside!

My father-in-law and I used to own and operate a towing company in Oakdale CA. and the stuff we used to find inside cars would boggle your mind. It was a very careful inspection we did on them as you never knew what might be stuck in the seat from dirty needles to just plain old nasty stuff. The law enforcement agency was required to do a complete inventory of the vehicle, but sometimes there was just SO much stuff in there, or it was dark, or raining, etc., that sometimes stuff slipped past their notice. There were times we called them back out to notify them that we found drugs or firearms. It was an interesting job, I'll have to say, we never knew exactly what we might be hauling for them.
