Tracks in the snow

I’m 6 miles from Alma CO. which is the highest incorporated town in the lower 48 at 10,361. My home is 4 miles further up the mountain at 11,030 GPS altitude. So you are correct. I’m not at 11,000.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I wasn't questioning your altitude, just the SOUTHEAST Colorado part. Alma is cool. As a kid, had a friend whose grandfather was mayor of that cool little town. I hear it is growing.

My brothers and I used to take Hwy 9
up through Fairplay and Alma on the way to deer
camp. Indeed that is high country.

Just a wild guess, but I have seen partridge tracks in deep snow that kind of look like that, when they do the hop - fly thing?

The man was right! Whether you are near Alma or Tin Cup Colorado you are not in either SE or SW Colorado. Both of those towns are quite close to each other, and about as close to dead-center in the state as it can get! When was the last time you looked at a Colorado map, or in "Google Earth"?

When friends visit me they also get headaches. I keep oxygen bottles around for visitors.
As for me, I’m 73 yrs old and have acclimated to the altitude over time. I’ve been a pilot for 30 years and have spent thousands of hours over 10,000 ft. When I started flying I’d grab the oxygen bottle at 9500 ft. Now I get on the bottle at the mandated 12,500.
In the summer I regularly ride my dirt bike through mountain passes up 13,200.
I live here for the peace it affords.

I tried to take my KLR 650 over Mosquito pass in late July. Started on the Leadville side but there was too much snow on the Alma side.

When I was growing up in Leadville my Father would take me to the burro races that went from Leadville to Fairplay.
