Trade? 66-3 for USP9

HOw many semi-autos do you own and how many revolvers? The care and feeding of a semi-auto is different than a revolver, and not all can adjust correctly to both.

A lot of semi autos including 15 hk's a lot of revolvers including 2 66's. Apparently Im out of touch with the revolver market. I'm glad I threw this out there. Going to do some research on the others I have also.

See that's a whole different thing.

First of what's the point of this gun? Carry or stick in safe? Lots of people here mentioned that the 66 is out of production. True and that does give value but I rarely if ever look at it that way. First and for most to me its about carry and SD so production means nothing. Second, I carry IWB so at this point the 66 is just as thick and probably thicker than the HK (1.5 slide). Then I have more ammo and more reloads with the HK. Aside from being out of production to me, the 66 has no advantage over the HK

Wouldn't be for carry. Safe and range. Love revolver but carry glocks. I have been known to throw a snub in my pocket now and then

That's something that's been repeated over and over but in reality it dated back to the 90s. Give them a call now and see what you get.

My experience (USP45) was much more recent, although a decade ago now. At least one agency in this state had such an experience with them within about the last 5 years. Started off pretty good, but turned disastrous in about 3 or so years. Too bad; their issue pistol (USP40) shot nicely the one time I tried it.

NO! I have a 66-2 with a 2" barrel and would never trade it for what you are talking about....

My opinion is no to the trade. This is coming from a person who only owns HK's for semi-autos and S&W revolvers. Overall value of your 66 is greater than the USP9. Unless you're going to war.....I suggest you visit the HKPRO forum to look for deals on a USP9 if you are really bent on having an HK....you may even end up wanting a different model. Anyways, good luck with your decision....BTW, the comment on HK's customer service may be true back in the day but not anymore. They have one of the best customer service.

How much are 66 snubbies? Everyone seems to say they are worth more. Maybe. My experience with them is ....I don't see them often but when I do they are around $450 - $500. HK USP is about the same

I'd keep the 66 all day long. Post this same question in the HK forum and I'm sure you'll get more people telling you to make the trade. If you think you'll shoot the HK more and get more enjoyment from it make the trade.

I decided not to make the trade. When I was considering it I had looked up the value on an online subscription I have for gun values. The guide set the price around what I'm now finding out was in fact around 2010 prices. The hk would have been added to a long list of hk's I own. It wouldn't have been carried. I would put it in the rotation of guns I take to the range. I justify having as many as I do by taking each gun to the range now and then.
This thread got me thinking about the Smith revolvers I do have. I started looking at trends with gunbroker and comparing it to the subscription I have. Same result. It appears the values have jumped in the last 4 years. Most have doubled from what I paid, and some appearing to be around 3x what I paid for them.
Is there a current, reliable source for smith values? Short of posting each one here?

You are correct, S& W revolver values have increased quite a bit in the past 4 years or more. Here is a post on how to search for completed auctions (not asking, but selling prices) on Gunbroker. You can exclude the very low and high values, but it is hard to argue with having a national sampling of actual recent sales prices.
