OK, so I post a P7M8 package deal on the forum. It is a mint condition Chantilly era P7M8 with many extras -- and at an exceptional price. 28 minutes later, gsadv posts that "I'll take it - PM inbound".
His immediate PM indicates that he wants to communicate via email rather than PM (Caution flag #1). I send a near immediate email and get an almost instantaneous reply -- with a scan copy of his FFL attached. He also makes a low ball offer on the Rohrbaugh R9S I also have listed on the forum and asks if I have any other "quality firearms" for sale (I guess hoping that I am in some type of distress and that he'll get them cheap).
I decline his low ball offer but do tell him that I have an SBR that is available and give him a price. My address for him to send payment for the P7M8 package has been provided to him by the point -- but I hear nothing further from him. (Caution flag #2)
About a week passes and no payment has been received. I send him a PM letting him know that if it arrives by the end of the week I can get it shipped out the same day before I head out for a week long business trip. No response. (Caution flag #3)
Ten days have passed and I see that he is online on the forum -- so I send another PM asking it payment has been sent -- or if he has decided not to follow through to let me know so I can get the P7M8 relisted. No response...and he goes off-line shortly thereafter. (Caution flag #4)
I decide to send him an email -- asking the same things, has payment been sent or please advise your decision not to complete the deal and I will relist the pistol for sale. No response. I try to call a phone number he had earlier provided -- from two different phones, no answer... (Caution flags #5, #6, and #7)
Being a little suspicious, I decide to look around a bit on the feedback section to see if I can learn anything about gsadv from others. I do see one positive posting from someone -- but what else I see is a little concerning...
I find two threads dealing with negative feedback on a couple of members that I believe were eventually banned. In both of those threads, gsadv makes a post that the subject of the negative feedback is either a "stand-up guy" or "that he has been quick and fair in my dealing with him". In one of those threads gsadv is called out as being the same person as the subject of the negative feedback, operating under a different name! (Red flags #8 & #9)
I have come to the opinion that gsadv is the same as these banned members who have been guilty of poor dealings in the classified sections previously. Look over the threads and decide for yourself:
Here is my for sale thread:

Here is the first negative feedback thread where gsadv pops up with a positive comment about the subject of the feedback (he's called out as being the same guy, operating under a different name):

Here is a later negative feedback thread:

Notice how the negative feedback is being directed at a "Manny25" -- well, the original email that I received from gsadv was from "Mannie S" -- isn't that an interesting coincidence...
I think gsadv is the current screen name of the same guy who operated under these other names. If he is banned at some point, he'll probably just show up again under a different name.
If you decide to do business with gsadv, do not consider your firearm sold until you have cash in hand. If you decide to buy something from gsadv -- well, I'd personally rethink that decision.
Maybe the mods will look at all of this and decide that action is warranted to gsadv -- and the ISP that he uses for access -- so that no one else has a problem.
