Trap & Skeet question.

Not knocking the trap guys but I never did understand why they
need a big old HUGE 12 Ga. to shoot their clay birds ?

A dinky little .410 breaks skeet birds with a cloud of smoke.

There is no friction at our club if they buy the first round........:D

Yes you can.... would you like me to mail you a blueprint? The club I manage just went operational on our first trap range this weekend, and I think I have leftovers :)

Superimposing the trap and skeet field is a good idea for a limited install, like your pistol club proposes.... you can let the shotgun guys fight over sharing it LOL.... I don't know about sharing it with the mover range, however, because your trap field will have marked set up 50 yards out in the middle, left and right edges of the flightpath.... those may interfere with the movers unless you get really creative.

Here is a low detail idea of what the superimposed field looks like.

Good luck, feel free to PM me if you need any other info, or want those blueprints!

Jim:
Your plan/blueprint arrived today at the store. It's exactly what the doctor ordered and I'll have it in the Club's hands by tonight. Our range has been approved, by the way. I paid the licensing fee yesterday here in the bank and once our "license" arrives -- which should be quick as we have a lawyer we've worked with picking it up from Army Base 1 in Mexico City on Wednesday and sending it to us on the First Thing Smokin' (Express) -- we can solicit and issue transport permits to Club Members.

Mexico sometimes angers me, often disgusts me and then other times amazes me. If you had told me even ten years ago that I'd be the part-owner of a gunrange in Mexico and one of the four people on the board of directors whose signature would be accepted by the Mexican Army to solicit transport permits inside this country for regular everyday citizens I'd have told you it couldn't be done.

But so far, I seem to be proving that wrong. When the first batch of applications go in (permits here are applied for and good until December 31 of each year) I intend to sign some of them myself and see if mine get refused or not. It would be good to know if my signature was the "kiss of death" or not. When they came to take the signatures and photographs of the board of directors the other day, I told the Lieutenant that they could probably just ignore me but he shook his head and said: "No, you'll be fine. They know you by now."

So we'll see how this flys. Thanks for the plans, I'll fix up some photos as we get further along and attach them to this thread.

Thanks Jim!

Took these photos last Saturday. You can see the white "Entrance Shack" that my wife was shown standing in front of in the earlier photos waaaaaay back in the background there. The entire property is now fenced in. We have a lot to work with.

The backstop we pushed up with a bulldozer. The range was "approved" with just this and a dinner and a few beers in a Member's restaurant. The land going back into the distance is Ejido land, or like in the old days a "Government Collective Farm". We got the range deeded by luck; a relative of my wife's ended up in charge of the office that could approve these things -- which generally they don't. At least, not easily. No danger of someone ever building behind us...a problem ranges can have these days.

The Trap & Skeet range will be going to my left here, beside the dirt embankment I'm standing on. Nothing back there but scrub brush and mesquite until the horizon.
