I have a Mod 14-2, 8"bbl. It had an after-market trigger shoe attached. I called Smith to inquire about a target trigger, but they said not available. Brownells shows a trigger for K frame "current production" models for $110. Any idea whether the trigger would work? Any recommendation where I might find the trigger. The gun works, shoots great. Puts 'em right where you hold 'em.

Just about any K Frame trigger made between the 1950's and the 1980's will be a duplicate for what you have for fitting into the gun. If you like the feel and crispness of the current trigger pull, it will change when you install a different trigger. You would have to have a trigger "fitted" by a gunsmith to retain the smooth crisp pull you currently have. You could luck out and the new trigger fit well without any additional work, but that is not normally the case. Do you like the feel of shooting it with the trigger shoe on it? That is about the same as with a Target Trigger. Remove the trigger shoe and see how you like that feel. Most people actually prefer the standard trigger for actual shooting. If you still want one, run a "Wanted To Buy" add for a target trigger for a 14-2 here on this Forum. You will probably get some responses.

Thanks, Richard. I do want to try w/o the shoe some, esp. on TF and RF strings. The only thing I don't like with the shoe attached is the extended reach required. If I'm still convinced a wider trigger is needed, I'll go the WTB route.

I don't care much for the trigger shoes either. You should try Jack First in Rapid City SD, and they currently have some for sale on GB and ebay as well. I recently resorted to buying an old stock - unused Target width K-Frame hammer on ebay for $41 bucks. Not a bad deal these days. Last I looked they had some triggers also. With ebay just be careful!
