I came across a video where a guy guy had 2 m&ps. One from 2008 and one from 2012. He was saying that he noticed a big improvement in the factory trigger. Both of my m&ps are from 2012 and i never thought the trigger was all that bad. I been contemplating getting the APEX DCAEK kits but I am still deciding.

Can anyone else confirm that the factory trigger has improved? Anyone purchase an m&p from this year and install the APEX kit and still noticed a big difference? Are people still experiencing the gritty triggers with the more modern m&ps?

I just got our M&P .45 yesterday, case fired date was 11-2-2012 and let me tell you it was the worst out of box trigger I ever felt bar none! Very scratchy ruff feeling with noise to it.. But trigger break was very crisp and clean though very heavy..I'm Not in MA so the 10lb trigger should not apply to me .. I'm in NH and my M&P .22 has a under 4lb pull.. Tried to work it in and ended up taking it down and buffed out the factory tool marks on the mag disconnect and sear with much improvement.. Only other out of box M&P I have to compare it too is the M&P .22 that has a great smooth trigger with a clean break to it right out of the box..Don't know if this info helps you or not. George

I fully agree with the opinion that the M&P 45 trigger is the worst ever experienced. This is my third M&P and by far the worst trigger, with lots of grit, a 9+ lbs pull, and a trigger bar that rubs against the inside of the frame. Going back to S&W.

Overall it sounds like the 45 always had a bad trigger and still does. Why is that? What makes the 45 have a more gritty trigger and worse than the others?

Dont forget the 40's, also. Every 40 at my LGS had the gritty trigger.

Heck I can;t figure out stamped parts and plastic yet in my head after there all set up and running profit will be quick and lucrative for S&W. My guess would be extremely high profit over the gen #3's or other all steel guns.. I think the cost after set up and recoup would be shockingly low per unit to build.. George

My Shield 9 trigger was horrible! It had a "catch" spot at the beginning of the pull...like it was rubbing on something. I never did figure out what, I just installed the Apex AEK kit and now it's better than my early M&P 9 with Apex CAEK kit (smoother).

I have seen many posts on the bad 45 trigger pull. It seems S&W, for some unknown reason, has engineered higher trigger pull pressure, than on the other M&P models. I have diagnosed it to a much higher striker spring pressure, which causes higher trigger pull due to the high friction between the striker and the sear.

The gritty trigger pull, found on some M&P models, can most ofter be traced to a burr in the striker blocker bore. This can be easily fixed. I posted a video of the fix:

My used 2010' MA edition M&P 45 actually had a 12.2# trigger. I thought the safety was stuck when I first tried it. It fixed itself nicely with a Apex sear.
