Trigger options

OK I've read on here about guys using different springs and some polishing to get a better trigger action out of the 15/22.
I'm ok with the weight of the trigger pull, but the rough pull is the problem. I took my son to the range again with another .22 and noticed how big the difference is. Do I need the springs or just polish the necessary parts to smooth it out ?
and if the springs, are there options or just the JP ones ?

Honestly for the price ($10 or so so), I just go with the jp reduced power spring kit.
Yes it reduces lbs but it also, imo, makes it more crisp. Made me much happier when I installed mine.

I agree with changing to the JP springs. They really improved the trigger pull and I think the lighter hammer spring allows the bolt to cycle easier for less issues with FTE's.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely have to go with the springs. where's the best place to get them ? I've heard about people getting nailed on shipping for a little $10 part.
I need to get a fore grip anyway, so might as well get them at the same time.

I ordered two sets from Brownell's last week. They were $25 and change, shipped. I had them two days after I ordered them. I wish the NFA paperwork went that fast. I really wanna get my barrel cut short.

I got the Hogue grip (very nice in my opinion) and the JP Springs along with a few other minor items from Midway. Shipping worked out to be minimal that way. I put the springs in and didn't do any polishing (yet) and am very happy with the difference.

Did you go with the 4 1/2 or the 3 1/2 lb springs ?

The 3.5 "yellow" springs. They give you a 4.5 pound pull just using the springs. If you put in the JP trigger parts, they take you down to 3.5. Here's the link.

Cain, I just got did my trigger last night. I installed the JP spring kit(yellow/3.5#) & polished the trigger & hammer IAW BeltFed's instructions. It is amazing how just a small amount of sanding with some 1200 grit sandpaper on the trigger could help so much. It took all of the grittiness/crunchiness out of the trigger. Then I applied some metal polish to the trigger & cycled it for awhile. Then took it apart & cleaned it. then I reinstalled it with the JP spring kit. I also installed a 1/4-28 set screw in the grip bolt hole to remove a lot of the take up in the trigger. I just went & shot the rifle a few minutes ago. Man what a world of difference compared to stock. No crunchy pull, plus a lighter pull, & very little take up. Not bad for $10.00 worth of parts & mabe an hour of my time.

No problem friend, hope its all you wanted and more... I told ya it was as simple as it gets... people r just afraid to mess things up.. but polishing is like nitrous, as long as you don't get stupid with it you don't have to worry about

Belt Fed - is that it to the instructions just sand a little with the 1200 then cycle through with metal polish or is that an abrieviated synposis ? My springs should be here by Monday, so I look forward to the improvement.
Any particular metal polish you recommend ?

Cain, I just used some Mothers metal polish that I had lying around in my shop.

im new to this so bear with my ignorance. are you guys just picking up the springs and using the stock trigger sanded? or are you picking up the jp trigger as well. it says 4.5 with the springs and 3.5 with the actual jp trigger. any advice would be very appreciated. just picked one of these up and its the first gun ive owned with options like this

I just went with the spring kit for now. I wanted to see if it made a difference by iteself, and it definitely does. I'm sure with the trigger it is an even bigger difference. For now I have the springs only in. I plan on sanding/polishing my trigger in the near future.
