Trigger Pull

Had my 28-2 at the range today, shooting double action, the trigger pull stopped about half inch and would not complete the action to fire the round, opened and closed the cylinder and all was fine, any ideas?

Could be anything from a piece of debris to incorrect hand size, poorly cut ratchets, a bent ejector rod, loose ejector rod, BC gap being way too tight, etc. Could also be a ill fitted trigger/hammer engagement or a broken part. Without looking at it or at least feeling it - I am just guessing here. If you have no clues, I'd seek a qualified Gunsmith - if there are any in your area.

Is this a recent purchase or have you had it for a while. If you have owned it a while, has this ever happened before? Has any work been done to the revolver? Any parts replaced?

ADDED: Probably not a real big deal, but if you are not familiar with the lock work of the gun, don't have experience working on them, I'd suggest not trying to fix it and let a Pro do it.

Could be endshake and the cyl. binding up on the back of the barrel. Could be lots of things.

Did it happen only the one time? Unless it's a carry gun, I wouldn't worry about it.

A high primer not allowing the cylinder to rotate far enough?

I'm thinking if it was working, then stopped, you opened the cylinder, closed it and then the gun worked again without further issue, then it is probably not mechanical. I would guess a high primer, a bit of debris in the wrong spot, maybe part of your finger between the trigger and trigger guard?

If it only happened once and opening and closing the cylinder solved the issue, I'd say a high primer might have been the problem, but it was most likely some debris, likely around the ratchet area, was preventing the cylinder from rotating smoothly.
