Trigger Questions

Hello fellas, I can no longer take the heavy stock trigger in my M&P 10. Going to upgrade here soon and after owning several Timneys I think I'm going to give a CMC flat a try this time around.

First of all I am assuming this gun uses small pins, can someone verify this?

Second has anyone used the KNS anti rotating pins in their M&P 10 yet? How did they work out? I don't want to trust the CMC mickey mouse clips to 308 recoil.

I just installed a Geissele SSA on my M&P10. Be aware you need to remove the right side bolt catch. Took 20 minutes because of the bolt catch. Can't wait to shoot it.

Did you order a small or large pin trigger?

Bassaro, I ordered small pin trigger. I think large pin is just for Colt. Small pin fits perfectly.

Speaking from experience, ditch the stock and get Geissele trigger, WORLD of difference. I have the SSA on my M&P 15 and now SSA-E on M&P 10 and although the SSA is great the SSA-E is better IMO, crisp, short reset, and you hardly feel the two-stage. As 'johnjeff' stated you will need to remove the right hand bolt catch which can be frustrating if you don't have the right tool (you will need 3/32 roll pin punch). Yes, its not cheap but worth it.

Yes guys I have heard the Geisseles are nice but not what I'm going for on this build. The OD green flat CMC is definitely what I am going to get. Also how do you remove the right side bolt catch? I never had to do that with any of my AR trigger swaps so this is all new ground for me.

For reasons beginning with the fact I am cheap! I sent my trigger group off to Bill Springfield for a rework. What I got back was a single stage 3# trigger for about $55 bucks.

As a side note, I discovered that thusfar, I can preload it with safety on, click safety off, then go full match with about 1# nudge, man I like this! Like cheating! And yes it still safety checks fine!

Bassaro, first make sure the gun is unloaded then take the upper receiver off the lower receiver. Add safety glasses. Next, gently tap the right side bolt catch roll pin with a 3/32 punch moving it toward the muzzle. Only move it enough to remove the bolt catch. Reinstallation is just reverse with the punch or probably better, squeeze the roll pin into position with pliers.

I went with the Timney (set for 3 lbs) on my Colt 6920. Big difference going from 9-3 Colt uses "small" just an FYI.

I don't know about the CMC or Timney trigger, but the bolt release doesn't have to be removed to install a standard AR or Geissele trigger. Simply press the release as if engaging it to lock the bolt back and it will raise the bar up out of the way to facilitate installation of the FCG.

If you do need to reinstall pins and use pliers, use the smooth jawed channel lock style made by Knipex as to reduce the chances of marring the finish of your receiver

Better yet, skip the pliers altogether and use a LONG punch and a light brass hammer. I use a brass punch (shown in bottom right of photo).

Not sure if you ordered the CMC yet but take note of a few things. First, great choice! But I think you need to do some work to the trigger housing in order for it to fit. If I remember correctly, the CMC has a square shaped metal housing around the trigger mechanisms. While you can get it to work, I believe you need to 'dremel' out a bit of this housing in order to fit around the ambi bolt catch.

Also, CMC now makes KNS like screws and not the c clips only. I was told if you call them and explain you just purchased the new trigger with the c clips, they may in fact send you the new screw type version.
